Default State ref

First time getting a state ref. In Cali for loud exhaust. anyone know what’s the best thing I should do idk if I should put exhaust back to stock and take it in for inspection or there is anything else I can do? I have full exhaust, cop made me pop the hood but I’m completely stock so he wrote me up for an expired insurance card and loud exhaust.

Put the stock exhaust on and get it inspected.

Pay the fines and reinstall the aftermarket exhaust!

You've got to pay to play.

Does that stay on my record though? Like after I get it handled and go back to aftermarket what happens if I get pulled over again just repeat the process or I get into deeper ****?

The CA DMV (or equiv) will probably have the info you need on their web site.

It’s a non-moving violation and should not go on your record.

And do you not have insurance or just didn’t have the card? If the former, why don’t you have insurance? If the latter, why get a ticket over some BS?

So on the ticket the insurance bs says correctable cuz I do have insurance just the card was expired. And the loud exhaust says noncorrectable so I was confused does it stay on my record or not? I wasn’t even doing anything stupid I was driving normal like a granny and he pulls me over says your exhaust is loud and your window tint and ends up writing me for loud exhaust and expiered insurance. Nothing for my windows or missing front license plate.

From what I understand is that the non-correctable means you have to get it signed off by a state ref, if it's correctable, any officer can sign it off. It still won't go you your record.

Got it, I guess I’ll have to make it stock which is going to be annoying. Seems like he just wanted to pull someone over cuz I did nothing wrong, He gave me a break on something’s but still got me for others. Could I still drive the car now, having just got a ticket or should I not move it until I get that fixed? I’ve been scared to take it and get pulled over again with a fresh ticket.

Is your car too loud, I think 95db max is the limit. You can download a db meter app on your phone and get an idea of how loud it is. You'd have to find out what the distance is to hold the meter away from your exhaust pipe for testing.

If it were me I'd find out if it really is too loud before I put my stock exhaust back on. Unless the cop used a decibel meter to test your car, he could be wrong and your car is fine. The state ref would confirm that.

Yeah it’s pretty loud like if your driving normal it’s good not loud, but once you get on it’s stupid loud lol. Plus I have test pipes I think that alone would not slide.

You'll definitely have to put your cats back on before you go to the ref. Might as well go completely back to stock for the inspection.
