I think you missed the point. Nissan was looking for what kind of reaction they would get to understand what the market wanted. Back in the day, the 300zxtt was top dog in the USA. The R32 GTR was in Japan. The 300zxtt was beautiful and the GTR was just an ugly duckling. They both had about the same power. Not sure why the Z platform can't be close to on par with the GTR at a better price.

If you could buy a Z for $40k and have it be close to a GTR, why would you buy a GTR at $90k? - Nissan exists to make money. The same reason the lower end Porsches are totally neutered, they started to step on the 911's toes.

That said, the 300ZX was direct competition to the Corvette. That ship is halfway around the world by now. Nissan would need to double or triple the Z's price to stay relevant.

I think you are missing it also. Nissan can have different levels just like Porsche. The GT2 RS is the top dog like the GTR if we are not talking about hyper cars. Do I think the standard 370z should have the TT engine in it. Noop, it should be just for the Nismo. The Nismo price will go up. I would think with the right package that should be around 55k. They need to deliver value, performance, and be visual appealing. All Z's are 911 territory. The 300zx was never competing with the Corvette. It has always been the 911. The 70's, 80's, and 90's Nissan/Datsun and Porsche were battling it out on the track. In my opinion, the Corvette was a joke. The first Corvette that was worth a crap started with the C6 and more so with the C7. Yes, I own a Corvette C7 GS but that car was for the wife. I have already owned my dream car, so I bought her dream car.

I don't think I did. Besides, all Nissan has to do to look for reactions is go online and read what people are saying, even before this SEMA version came out. There's numerous threads and sites all over the web for the past 5+ years saying exactly what everyone wants from Nissan with future Z's. That's a MUCH larger base than just the crowd at the SEMA show. Plus, people online tend to be a lot more brutally honest than they are face to face with someone.

If Nissan wants to know exactly where they stand and in what direction they need to go with the next Z, all they have to do is browse the internet for a few days.

Nissan has been looking on the net. They all do. Think the net had something to do with Nissan picking MAM to do the Z. MAM has a present on the forums.

They have been listening too. I suggested this engine be used to one of the Nissan guys at Zdayz this year. He asked me what model should it be in. I said the Nismo of coarse with a manual. There is a difference between telling them what you would like to see and just bitching about everything. Not only that, you want it all for the same price or cheaper. Really?????

He also asked me what should it be called. That is a good question, I responded. The Z names have always used the displacement numbers. 240z, 260z, 280z, 280zx, 300zx, etc. The 300z name should be used again, I responded. Just makes sense. A Z car has been part of my whole life. If I every sold one, I got another within 6 months. I have 2 at the moment. I would like to have 3. I sold my dream car, a 300zxtt in Metallic Black with Black interior.

Please stop calling MAmotorsports about the VR30dett swap. They can't work on anything and this is hindering me getting my car up there for my work to be completed. LOL When they are ready to take orders I am sure they will let everyone know.

I wonder if MAM would partner with Nissan to buy back our VQ motors if we do the swap...obviously would help lessen the cost of the kit which won't be cheap.

For the cost of a VR30 swap, you're better off going TT on the VQ. Limits of the VR30 are still TBD but I'm sure we'll find out soon.
