OEM wiper blade inserts - Just a quick Stealership rant...

Now I know what I can get them for online but where they seem to get you is during the "shipping charges" phase of the order.

So I went by my new and local Nissan yesterday to get a set but was still ill prepared for the $38 quote. I asked if that was for the whole arm assembly and he assured me it was just for the inserts. I think I said something along the lines of "You've got to be joking...No Thanks."

Went home and ordered TWO sets delivered for $42. Guess $11 shipping is not so far out of whack after all.

On a side note, I've never been to a stranger parts department at a dealership:
You have to walk back through the service area and talk to a secretary. Whereupon she calls back to Parts. "He'll be just a minute". (Evidently, a minute in dealership time is actually 10) When he arrives the computer right next to the secretary is the one used to look up your requested items. I've never been to a parts department where you didn't just walk right up to the counter.

A day of firsts...

Thanks for listening Dr. Crane.

Sincerely, Dave.

I need a new set too. I was looking at local parts houses and couldn't find an aftermarket one with the same offset/profile as stock. I do not want the arm to raise up. This causes aerodynamic issues and can cause the wiper to lift at speed in the rain. The early 240z, 260z, and 280z were bad about it.

I shop on line first. Once I find a deal I print it out.

Then I go to the local Nissan stealership and say can you get these parts for this?

They grumble and say “one sale is better than none!”

They get my parts the next day. I pay tax but no shipping, and I have a chance to inspect the parts before paying.

My method of dealing with the Stealership is a bit different. I make it into the service dept about twice a year. While there I check all the "specials" they have listed on the board--most do not specify exceptions for a particular model, like the Z. I doubt that all Nissan dealerships are this careless.

I recall picking up a pair of wiper blades, installed, there, but don't recall the price offhand. I do remember thinking it was a bargain.

So, you are complaining about $40 and wiper blades?

FPenvy 10-12-2018 09:03 AM

i'm lost?.........

go to advanced auto. rain x awesome wipers are $18 each and they carry the 19 and 21" sizes for the Z. personally i use bosch icons for$23 a piece

$36, no shipping, and 5 min to put on.

if you go to a dealership for anything just give me your money, i'll kick you in the balls, and we can call it a day.

I use the Trico Onyx, never had an issue with them and I change them twice a year (time change is a great reminder). My 2012 didn't like the rainx wipers...

I use the RainX latitude blades and the orange washer fluid. I too rarely use more than intermittent and can run without in most showers

How many cars did you pass in the fast lane with their flashers on? I can't stand that. Get in the slow lane you idiot.

Think that it was 2 years ago. Rained going down and back. Coming back was a monsoon.
