2019 Nismo review

HERRO!!!!!!

So after owning this baby for almost 2 weeks and putting some miles on I think I can now give an honest review.*

For reference, I had a 2012 Sport Touring (no tech) and slapped a stillen CBE on right away. Intakes the next spring and lined the trunk and doors in dynomat... or hushmat... some sorta dampening. Tuned 2 years ago on ECUTEK, added some sways (THANKS HOTRODZ), changed to the HD CSC and RJM pedal, and upgraded the pads to Posiquiets. Then some jackarse decided to rear end me and totaled the Z. Sad days my friends.

THEN! I had a great opportunity to get a new Z. Huge. Like. Biggest. Of. The. Summer. No 18's left so I got a brand freakin spankin new 19.

Now first and foremost the visual differences. Yes we all know what the 15+ Nismos have those big aesthetic changes. So what I will focus on is the performance and notable changes too.

Aside from the trim let's talk the Steering wheel. I do like the Alcantra on the sides. I do wonder how it will age as I get sweaty palms when I drive. But I do prefer it over the stock wheel. Little thicker and the soft alcantra makes it nice.

Seats. oh the seats... probably the #1 on my list of yays! I immediately felt the shoulder support. Miss the power seats but then the adjustments are locked in and done. I do prefer how the power seats have a smaller adjustment intervals vs the knotch of the manual adjustment sliding front/back. I didn't have issues with the sport touring seats when I was being spirited and the few that met me know I can get very spirited. But as soon as I tried similar corners I did before I felt that extra thigh and shoulder support. It was unreal what a difference bucket seats make.*

Inside the cabin now - so as mentioned I had sound dampening in my old Z. It helped reduce that road noise (pebbles pinging the undertray/exhaust) and especially made it easier during driving in rains or long highway journeys on my road trips.

The 19' Nismo I noticed immediately the wheel wells were not smooth. They have something over them. I also noticed immediately on the drive there wasn't as much road noise vs the sport touring. I will probably tear out the rear hatch to check if any material has been added as well. But it does feel like cabin noise overall has been reduced vs my 12.*

Performance -*

Exhaust is louder than oem on the sport touring but quieter than the stillen I had installed. Still haven't hit redline yet (hit 6k a few times). I feel like stock nismo exhaust is not that bad though. It's not everyone's cup of tea but for me I do appreciate the notes it makes.*

Suspension is also different. Ride comfort is a lot less vs the sport touring. I thought I felt things before but now I really feel the road feedback. Not a big deal for me as I personally am seeking that type of experience. It is a bit rough as a DD (been doing that for past week to help break in)

What is great though is I was able to take the same sweeping corner at the same speed as my previous Z (on both re11's and ps4s tires with same suspension setup) without having the oem nismo tires starting to scream. That put a big smile on my face.*

The gears feel shorter (iirc the final drive is different) and I find it revs quickly with adequate throttle response. Exedy clutch isn't that bad either but still feels just as numb.

Overall I do think that it's a great car for what it is. Price point, I can understand brand new is a bit steep for what is offered. Let's say I got a really good deal which is the only reason why I decided to get one brand new and come back.*

Have questions about the 19? Ask! I will answer as best I can.

Went with black again!
I dont like the black side mirrors on the white.

I think the black/red combo consistency is sleeker.

2 reasons why i got another z.

1)the car
2) the z community

Pps- if you are happy with the nismo cbe but want a little more volume and slightly lower/more aggressive tone, while still being true to the oe sound, just add the aam midepipe and keep oe muffler.

No real gains to be had but sounds good, r just go full fi cbe, as the former owner of a couple black nismo z’s I did one each way and was happy with both outcomes.
