currently own s2000`s. The convertible s2k is has alot more noise transfer than my 370z. I have another s2k that has the hardtop and i would say its about the same noise level. But i agree the Z isnt perfect as far as sound transfer, but its alot better than most sport cars out there. My 370z almost feel like a luxury car compared to my s2k. I mean nav, heated seats and bluetooth? i really couldnt ask for more...

By the way i love my Evo MR too, but i traded it for the 370Z cause the 370 just felt better in terms of being smoother and creature comforts. The Evo was just fast and easy to mod, but that was it.

I guess my only true complaint on the Z is the gas mileage. But we didnt buy this car to be an eco-box.

On my test drive, the dealer turned the radio up as loud as he could so I couldn't hear the road noise.

I should of brought some of my music to test the stereo with. He'd have been quite alarmed.

On one of my test drives, we were entering onto the freeway and I looked at him and said ok if I push it? Lets just say he was grabbing the door a little tough. :D

After driving Mustangs for over 16 years, I don't necessarily want a car with a lot of road noise. Now, I just learned about the Second Skin products and that might very well be the solution I am looking for.

And as for the tractor comment - my 2.3li turbo sound like one too so please don't get offended.

Unless you strip the entire interior and cover every square inch with their version of dynamat topped with Luxury Liner you won't make it any better. It will end up costing you several hundred bucks and generally be a PITA.

After reading this forum for several months, I was taken aback on my first test drive by how LITTLE road noise there was. As much as people complain about it here, I really expected it to be bad. It was actually a little quieter than the Mazda MX-5 I was coming from (smaller wheels/tires, smaller engine, but less sound insulation, convertible with unlined top). That all said, I did notice what I thought was a bit more noise than I should have heard in the coupe. Surprisingly, however, the Roadster is not at all louder than the coupe with the top up. Top down, the exhaust is more apparent -- a benefit, in my opinion.

I think it's a little bit of perception vs. reality. The MX-5 was never billed as a refined sports car, so nobody's ever given a second thought to its noise. The Z is held to a higher standard because of the car that it is. As others have noted, though, that standard needs to be a subset of the car's mission as a true sports car. Refinement is secondary and, in fact, not always completely welcomed by those who enjoy this car's connection with the driving experience more than its ability to perform as a driving appliance.

Road noise in the coupes. I think your roadster's wind noise drowns it out.... :P

I just test drove a 370z as well, I was actually impressed with how much quieter it was compared to my '03 eclipse.
If the sound honestly bothers you, you should probably drop a few extra grand on a g37, or use some dynamat and cover up areas on the 370z.

Actually several reviewers have pointed out that with the top up the roadster is actually quieter than the coupe. They attribute it to the fact that the passenger compartment in the coupe is not separated from the cargo area while in the roadster it is.

I don't think the Z is particularly loud, crap it's a lot quieter than my 911. Anyway, my 05 Mustang GT conv. that I traded for the Z was a lot louder.

Noise doesn't bother me much though, I've got Def Leppard and The Stones up high when I'm toolin along, makes me feel young again...

I second this observation.

Been on a few Z drives. Its loud enough to sound sporty without being overbearing. But I like my cars loud and like very audible engine/rev sounds.
As far as road noise you can research tires I guess. And as far as cabin noise. You can buy dampers and muffle the sound but you will be adding performance hindering weight. Also you can add new louder speakers and amp w/sub and drown out more noise.
Or just go with a quieter car. G37, genesis coupe or camaro V6.
