Yes, it's a big problem in my 2010 base model. I here it's a basic design flaw.
I am investigating possible fixes now. None so far seem easy. Have to take apart the interior

He said "here"
Is a sports car. I don't know why people complaint about the noise. Yes, some tyres will make it a bit less noisy, and you can add sound proffing material. In the end, if you (with that I mean all of us) want a quieter ride then we should have bought a MB or BMW for that matter. I don't think is a flaw. You want it lighter... then sound proffing won't be added.
I did my homework before purchasing the Z. Not to mention this is my 4th Z, but I knew what I was getting into. I knew all the "goods" and "bads" before the purchase. I recommend to everyone to do the homework, not just focus on price and horse power numbers before signing the papers. I'm not saying you (with that I mean all of us) should not complaint and not to try to get a better product, that's the beauty of democracy. What I'm saying is some of us, drive a Z and now they realize how noisy the car is, how noisy the clutch can get, there is no much interior room, the brake pads are really crapy, and so on.
For example, a coworker wanted a Z so bad, he was going to purchase one a few weeks ago. He was talking about a Z this and Z that non stop for two weeks. Funny thing is, he thought the vehicle was a V8. Now he does not want one. Do the homework people! The internet is a marvelous thing, besides looking at porn.

OEM Bridgestone Potenza'a on the sports model is the real culprit. I have snow tires on and the noise problem has disappeared. It shall return when I put the Potenza's back on in a couple of weeks.

This has been discussed at length on here, and this is an old thread. Some folks have suggested adding sound-damping materials like DynaMat. Others have had luck with just upgrading their tires. I understand the Continental DWS are pretty quiet.

Personally, I don't mind the noise.

I have the DWS and is a bit quieter, but don't expect to be able to have a quiet conversation while doing 65+ mph.

Yea, the noise is not even a factor with me. The Super Sports I just had mounted are even louder than the Potenzas.

Every girl ever in my 370Z (with oem exhaust/intake {for now } ) :

"This car is loud!"

Me:

Thats ok, its not like my 350 with 2.5'' piping coming off the rear turbo and neighbors complaining. Thats a whole different animal. I personally like the road noise/ exhaust noise. Cant wait for the F.I exhaust and stillen g3's though

I thought that my Z wasn't so loud, then two weeks ago I got new hearing aides and wow, it is loud. But I love it!
I finally heard the "rasp" that folks with hfcs have talked about.

To the whiners. May I recommend Continental DWS and Hankook Ventus Evo V12.

I actually keep some earplugs in mine for those days when I'm crusin' my 65 mile commute to work. I used to fly Helicopters every day so loud doesn't bother me... I just toss in some plugs and enjoy the sound of freedom

Its amazing to me how many people have this problem and still Nissan does nothing.. I started a thread about this about three years ago and the issue is still here..

Even professional auto reviewers have mentioned this..

Just get the damn thing coated with Dynamat , hatch and doors especially, and if you dont mind sacrificing a small bit of performance for a better ride and less noise get Continental Extreme Contact tires...I use the DWS but if you live in a warmer climate you might choose DWs..

We had a very long thread about this some time ago and each person has their own ideas but to me I dont mind an extra 25 pounds in order to get a car that I can enjoy each day and not have to shout when I talk..and I dont enter the car in any kind of race competition so a few fractions of a second off track time doesnt bother me..

It's going to take a redesign to fix this. If Nissan added more sound deadening the car will weigh too much. They added a little in 2011. more in 2012, and a little more in 2013. If they put G37 sound deadening we'd gain 100lbs.
In the case of the Z, performance before noise issues. At the end it's a performance car. I know plenty of reviewers have called the car out. But if you did a owner count. 75% of owners seem to deal with it because they dont find it severe or it doesn't bother them at all. 25% complain and find it to be annoying.
So it doesn't warrant Nissan to make extreme changes in noise reduction. Furthermore, at sales of 5,500 units a year. Nissan isn't making enough money on the car to fix multiple issues. If Nissan did fix things though. The noise level to most owners is on the low level of the totem pole.
