A mini might be fine on the island. I've only been to Maui, but there's just no place to stretch out the legs of a real sports car there....I think the fastest speed limit I saw was 50, and the twisty roads have too damn much traffic to have any fun.

But I'm not a fan of the boxy looks.

Exactly, some of the most fun cars I had weren't "fast". You could drive them hard because of it without committing any felonies. My favorite mountain carver so far has been a Mazda 3 of all things, a regular one. And I had a Mazdaspeed3. It's not fun when your car is too fast for the roads.

It's true, all you can do here is go from one traffic light to another or on the highway one bumper to another. There's very few if any places to just open it up on.

It might have been true back then but now H3 is probably the only place left and now the cops are waiting for you behind every curve... Still a nice drive at the speed limit of course.
