2nd Page of the Instructions of Installing...
I know this topic probably has been beaten up. However everyone has forgot to mention the following page (9-14) of " Installing Front License Plate" in the Technical and consumer information. Every one just posted page 9-13 of the instructions which ends in page 9-14.
When I posted my pics of what I found underneath the plate bracket of my car no one mention this on the thread. After fighting with the dealer about these two holes on the bumper they explain why. The Nissan Co. fucktards writes on page 9-14. "Mark the center of the hole (D) on both sides with a felt-tip pen. Remove the bracket from the bumper, and then open 0.9 to 1.0 inch (22mm to 25mm) diameter holes on the bumper using the marks (D) as a center." Now according to the Store and Service Manager this is a procedure (pre-delivery) done to all the 370Z in States where front license plate is required. So 95% of all the 370 with front license plates have this holes unless you told the dealer not to. Hope this save someone from going thru all the anger that I been thru.

Edit: I should have said "Most dealers arent that STUPID". The bracket can be easily attached using just the two holes in the black trim area (which can easily be plugged.) Last edited by Modshack; 12-28-2009 at 10:03 PM. |

Just picked up my 2010 this weekend. We (Colorado) need a front license plate. I didn't get one when I picked up the car and emailed them about it today. However, there are no holes in the front of my car......not to make you more mad....

If you read the manual it says on page 9-14 to drill those big holes. But what is the purpose of those big holes? I told my dealer to not put on my front plates.

"So the bracket plate sits flush against the bumper", because the bolts are like 1/16 inch longer...which is totally BS.

Common sense should overide stupid instructions, but if they have a young inexperienced guy doing the get-ready (usually the case) this is what you get.....

When I took delivery the dealer asked if I wanted them installed. I couldn't have said, "No!" quicker.
OR requires them but I haven't had any issues so far. I know that doesn't really help you but I was annoyed when I saw that comment from your dealer about "95%." |

It wouldn't suprise me that is says to do that. I have a front plate (required in my state), and after 1 year, I have two holes there because of the screws that hold the plate on - unfortunately, but realistically, they are too long, and stick into the bumper - not sure if this only happens when the wind pressure pushes the plate back or not, but if I look behind my plate, there are two screws jutting into the bumper into about that area where those holes are. If I ever move to another state, I would have to keep a plate on just to hide the marks. Another small mistake by Nissan.

It is frustrating, but in the standard delivery protocol.. but usually asking for this not to happen works, especially on a new vehicle. When I took delivery of my G35 I was seconds away from someone drilling, despite repeated mentions.
A good 'fix' for this is BumperPlugs.com.. but not better than not having them. Some dealerships have swapped fascias for others on the lot when pushed hard.. For states needing plates, like California, we have the License Plate Brackets that work with the factory tow hooks, and easily removable: STILLEN : STILLEN Front License Plate Bracket |

I live and bought my car in CALI, which requires front plates. North Bay Nissan in Petaluma never puts plates in. I would be mad if i had huge holes in mine like that.
