I understand you really wanted this car with this color and spec because I'm particular like that too, but I would have walked and sent a letter with this whole sorry saga to the head of Nissan Canada. I'd send the letter now anyway.

BRUTAL story. I had some awful experiences at the dealership as well. The fun part of owing this car will begin after a bit of time has lapsed between this awful experience and when you actually get some time driving it

Well guys, here's a small update.
I was actually looking into the S2Ks because I love those as well, but the wifey doesn't like them and the high resale value for such an old car is hard to justify personally. Also, this thread helped: Deciding between s2000 and 370z. Anyways, I think I will be posting my truck up for sale soon. If anyone is interested let me know. I take very good care of my vehicles Also, PLEASE let me know if anyone can hook me up on a good deal on a Nismo. New or used (15+). Obviously it has to be clean and red/white/silver and manual. Thanks!! |

Sounds like a Ontario type dealership. Nothing but good service, attentive sales people and managers in Edmonton, Alberta. Accepted my offer of 1500 over invoice with a 1000 loyalty rebate too. Had some trouble with the Finance officer lying about warranty and had to set him straight. He was gone by the time car arrived. Those questionnaires from Nissan and talking to the manager about the problem, calmly, does works. The best tool you have for shopping for a new car is your feet. Don't like the deal; leave and talk to someone else. You do know you can fire your salesman and request someone else to help you.

If I walked out of a dealership, I’m not sure I would go back and ask for a different salesperson. You’re prob going to piss off your salesperson and the other salesperson maybe friends that the original salesperson. Keep in mind that your vehicles goes through a behind-the-scenes clean/inspection before you take delivery. Who knows what can happen, not to mention they have your personal information by this point. Though nothing will most likely happen, but you never know. It’s like going to a restaurant and asking for a different waiter/waitress after your food has been ordered bc s/he pissed you off and who knows what can happen to your food from the kitchen to the time it reaches your table.

No offense intended to any buyer/potential buyer...but YOU are the one to seal the final deal....if a specific dealership isn't doing "you" right than move away.....I searched and searched for months for a 350z and never found "the fit" so I moved on to a 370 and got more than what I wanted. I also went used and I also waited and narrowed down my choices until it was perfect. Got great miles at a great deal with what I was looking for. With these horror stories I would've moved along and set the parameters for what I am looking for because at the end of the day you are the buyer. Maybe that dealer just sucks...Idk....but with so many options online you can find exactlt what you eant at a fair price if you just are willing and ready to negotiate and make the deals needed...

I told him that is price was above MSRP and he said that's the best deal I can get. I then asked for the General Manager but he wasn't in, so I got the sales manager instead and informed him that I don't wish to work with that salesperson, he asks me why, and I inform him of the distrust due to pricing situation. He said "don't worry, I'll take care of you from here on out and I'll have a talking with that sales rep". He then proceeds to tell me that the correct Costco pricing should be $500 lower than what the salesrep told me. OMG the piling on of BS never stops here! I told him forget it and leave. As soon as I get back home, I call up the Costco auto sales program and spoke to a rep. Then I send Costco an email with all the prices in writing with the big bold letters that the salesrep wrote "Costco Price!" I CC'd that email to the GM of that dealership as well. Very next morning, I get a call from the sales manager saying that he'll now give me $3,500 off of MSRP thanks to the GM's approval. I was hoping to get $2,500 off so that worked out. Anyway, I go back in to sign, and he says I'll get the $3,500 off under 1 condition. That I give them an excellent rating on questionaire from Acura. I agree and the deal is done. Following day I go in to pick up the car with my mom, on the invoice I notice that the initial sales rep is on it and is receiving credit for the sale. I'm sure his commision was very small, but this dealerships BS just goes on and on. I accept the car as my mom is very happy with it and she doesn't need to get involved in all the stupidity of the sale. When I get the survey from Acura, I rip the sales person, dealership and send back copies to them of the pricing situation. I receive a letter of apology from Acura, also thanking me for informing them of this situation. Approximately 1 year later, this dealership was no longer an authorized dealer for Acura on the island of Oahu. From that time on, I have had no desire to ever get and Acura. |

Tony Nissan here on Oahu used to be the same way about 8 years ago. They played the same game with me, low balling my Mini, adding $4k above invoice to their cars due to "market value" and just playing games. That one time I walked out and was getting home (east side) and I get a call from them, "come back, the GM really liked you, he'll work with you". I was pissed, I told them there was no way I would drive all the way back there unless they met or at least half way met my price. He couldn't guarantee that so I hung up and bought a Lexus IS350. Fast forward 8 years and I want a Z again so I try them and they're a completely different dealership. I was very happy dealing with them this time around with my '17 Touring. The car was highly discounted, they treated me with respect, the car was cleaned up and the whole deal was perfect with no games.
