Me and the wife have decided to sell the Z. Had it exactly 8 years and feel it's best just to sell and use the money to add to the principle on our house. Our goal in the beginning of the year was to pay off the house by the end of the year and selling the Z would make this happen sooner. Anyways, looking for advise if the offers I received today from Carmax and another online buyer are reasonable. Carmax offered $15,000 and the online buyer offered $15,500. Pretty close considering they assessed the vehicle separately.
My vehicle is a PW 2010 Auto with Sport Package with 14.690 miles. The options I added at purchase was the illuminated kick plates and rear spoiler. Always garaged, never smoked/eaten in, and no issues with the exterior or interior. Here's additional info and things I added over the years:
I don't expect to recoup the cost put into a vehicle, but it does help with the appeal when selling especially new tires and battery. What do you think of the offers? |

Not sure what to say, I almost traded my Z due to personal reasons, I have a touring/ Sports package manual with a set of snow tires and rims that I switch each Winter/ Summer now close to 40k and the dealer wanted to give me 13K, nothing wrong with the car no carfax, only mod is the CAI and the rear fog light His reasoning wsa that in the Winter nobody wants a rear wheel drive car...so at 15K for a 3 yo older car than mine, I'd say it's better but try selling it on your own, good luck

actually, most vehicles do automakers keep building new models even Kia and Hyundai have sports models that ppl flock to get them because they are cheaper unfortunately for them the depreciation is almost 50% right out of the dealer's parking lot. I'm just happy I didn't sell/ trade mine, no matter where I am there is at least one person who gives me positive comments about my baby

Compared to what? Typically, Japanese cars tend to hold their value better than American/Korean cars.

More often than not, you should receive more selling privately than selling to a dealership, esp carmax, though selling privately may take more time selling. Keep in mind that any mods will lower the value. Regarding the options, I thought the sports package already came with the rear spoiler?

I would price your car out on KBB, only because I use it for tracking the value...
If you wanted to get an idea, you could go to carmax, vs. a dealership and see what offer that they make. It will at least give you an idea.... What it comes down to, is what you are willing to accept for your Z... good luck

Mileage is a very important thing that is looked at & yours is very low,,,look at Autotrader.com
Car max would resell & try to get high teens for it,,,the bank see’s it as 9yrs. Old,so not sure how long they would do a note on it (36-48mos.) sounds like you could get 16,900-17,500 selling outright...just depends on how quickly you wanting to sell. GLWS, as sounds like a great car to get!

I think this particular car will be a harder sell, esp @ $17k, simply due to it being an auto tranny.

I think the year will hurt him the most. For even 15k someone can get one a few years newer. I don't know, guess we shall see. I wonder what the ratio of auto to manual is honestly now that you mention it lol

A/T's are quicker 1st-4th gears....nearly 5:1 first gear!

Lol sweet, they can beat me to the next red light.
And manuals are a security feature since it seems like kids (I’m a millennial) these days don’t know how to drive a manual.

Depending on who’s A/T it is & who’s driving,,,you’d only see taillights from 0-whatever.
