2018 Z's Concept of acceleration??

There isn't a lot of information on google for this change but its mentioned here...

2018 Nissan 370Z Coupe Press Kit - Nissan Online Newsroom

.."Without changing the engine's internal structure or components, engine performance is improved through careful refinement of Accelerator Pedal Opening (APO) and Throttle Valve Opening (TVO) angles"

Does anyone know if this feature can be ecu flash into older Zs?

2018 Z's Concept of acceleration??

Hmmm interesting! That’s news to me. I wonder if they just retuned the throttle response to get rid of the dead zone at the beginning of throttle travel? It seems to apply only to A7 cars. Hopefully someone will chime in with more info.

Does this mean something will happen when you push the gas now?

That dead zone is awful, even with a manual.

I have a 2018 Sport Tech manual. Throttle is crisp. No dead spots.

Plot Twist: They added Sprint Booster. :rofl2:

Kidding aside... wish they figured that out so many years ago. It's difficult to blip the throttle on downshifts compared to the 350Z, and it lacked the neck snapping response as well. I can only wonder what it would be like boosted.

Weird thing is it wasn't really something to "figure out". I'm pretty sure it's a straightforward parameter to adjust.

I think even EcuTek Connect BT can let a user do it on the fly if the tuner unlocks the setting.

Sounds like they've just adjusted the same parameter that is done with ecutek to eliminate the dip in the throttle curve, probably still not truly linear as the tuners set it because that would probably be too touchy for a majority of drivers.

I agree
Ecutek tune to very light pedal.I know everyone makes fun of Sprint booster(just opens throttle more with less pedal travel to start; the end result is the same.Yes you could just mash pedal harder to get same result.).I put mine on after Ecuteck tune.I have no lag. Before tune and Sprint booster the lag was very noticeable. The way I have set would be too touchy for a lot of people.I do not think Nissan is not doing much more than this.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'm still under warranty so a factory tune to fix the throttle sounds great. I'm still not clear if a dealer can simple reflash to a 2018 map or for that matter would they even agree to it

I would be willing to bet money that a Seb-tuned Z on Ecutek is still better than any tune Nissan has put on any stock 370Z.

Way to go Nissan. It only took 10 model years

Also very interested in the dealership ability to flash a Nissan approved update into my 2014.

MOAR INFOS PLEAZ!!!

Well they aren’t working exactly the same. With drive by wire it isn’t uncommon for the manufacturer to not have a linear curve but the two extremes are still accurate (0 app=0 tps and 100 app=100tps) its the middle areas that aren’t = to each other. The sprint boost fixes this I believe by boosting the app signal but this comes at the cost of the throttle going to 100% before the pedal is actually at max. With ecutek the tuner can do the same thing if you request but I believe it’s more common to make the throttle truly linear and just fix the middle zone. You can read about it in the ecutek tuning guide if your more interested.

Worked on this quite a bit on tune.Pedal as set by tune is close to linear.Tried a few different ways.Bounced back and forth on this.Still had slight hesitation.(dead spot).Vastly improved over factory.Drove like this for awhile.Put the Sprint Booster back on.No dead spot.Yes the boosted signal opens throttle to 100% before pedal is all the way down. Not sure of your point here.

Is this going to be a Sprint Booster debate.

On impulse I called a local dealership yesterday, to late to speak to a service mgr but Im on callback. I'll try three locals for different opinions. Can't say Im optimistic but we'll see...

10 years, no power increase and frustratingly, no serious interior updating. :koolaidwall:
