lol so asking a local service dept if my ecu could be updated was painful. Knew I was in trouble when they asked for the vin. After a brief hold the tech states "there no tsb for your model"; sighs. I attempted to explain this isn't a tsb or "fix" but rather a performance improvement, like getting an android update hehe. I heard crickets and a final bring the car by we'll take a look. I'll pass lol, moving on to next shop. More later...

Would like to hear from someone who's driven both the 2018 and earlier versions(s) as to whether throttle response has actually improved perceptibly. If Nissan's tinkering hasn't really changed the driving experience, this is all a moot point.

I've heard it time and time again... mashing the throttle does NOT help. I can floor it and there's a delay or slow ramping in acceleration as if I'm starting off in 2nd gear. In fact, the turbos had trouble spooling up until it hit 4k RPM. What seems to work is slightly blipping the throttle before engaging 1st. I once had the brake pedal switch replaced, which brought back the response and screaming engine briefly. Before I sold the car I seem to have resolved the power degradation issue by replacing the MAP sensor. New owner seems to have enjoyed the car since then with no complaints.

Compared to the 350Z, I think the 370Z's throttle response was atrocious.

There's no point in getting a half *** factory tune and hack sprint booster when Ecutek fixes this and gives the tuner more granular control. You also get the benefit of a tune, better traction control management, launch mode features, antilag, and map tuning. The only nice update is the S007's and that passion red color. I'm still partial to Magma Red though.

Perhaps you could swap in a 2018 ECU? Just throwing an idea out there.

Can confirm.

Drove a 17 then bought a 18 ( both 6MT base ). Clutch and throttle feels sharper.

How’s the inventory of Z’s up in QC ‘fungole’? Curious. Manual Sport Techs are scarce in US. Dealers seems to carry only base and touring in automatic.

For anyone interested. I checked with several dealerships about flashing my 2015 model ecu to the 2018 software. Dealerships are only authorized to update ecu software based on the vin, none were willing to take the risk of anything happening with an unauthorized flash. Nissan would have to officially release the 2018 enhancements as a software update to older models. Moving on

Just got rid of my 16’ and getting my 19’ next week. I can update as well once I drive it bit as you heard, looks like they improved throttle response.

I own a 17 and have driven an 18 (both 6MT Touring). Clutch feels smoother but throttle feels the same (no dead spot).
