First issue with the Z.
Ok so i got the Z brand new, it just rolled over 8000km. Never had any issues. Few days ago me and the girlfriend thought we smelt something burning. Never thought to much of it because I thought either A. it was dirt that was burning off the exhaust or something. Or B. it was the POS civic that was falling apart in front of us.
So yesterday I decided to take my headlights out and take them apart to black them out and to swap to 8000K bulbs. Took me 2 days to do (been abit busy) but finally got everything put back together today. Started the car up, no problems. Let it warmed up since its -12*C out and decided to head to the car wash since it was abit dirty and i wanted to take some pictures. Gave it a quick rince and thats it. Left the car wash, everything was normal...about 5mins later as im sitting at the mcdonalds drive through me and my gf were just waiting and all of a sudden the stereo and heater controls short out for a few mins. However the heater switched from the feet and person settings to defog windows...still had heat. But the little lights that shows if the AC, Rear window defrost and circulation is on wouldnt light up. So went home, sat in the parking lot for a min with the power off. Started back up...heater controls work again. However when everything shorted, the stereo was on CD #3. No matter what cd i put in (whether its burnt or not) it wont play that..just says "Check CD" Anyone know what the issue could be? I'm going into the dealership after xmas to get it checked out, just wondering if its anything someone has happend to them before. |

lets hope they dont notice your headlights and say you caused the damage. They look for ways not to do warrenty work, I hope yours is not that way.

I know the guys at the dealership so i should be good. If i can get warrenty out of a heavily modded Cobalt SS Supercharged...i think im good. Although everything is working fine now. My buddy that does car alarms/starters/stereos said he will take a quick look when he installs my alarm/auto starter after xmas before i bring it in.

Technically they cant do anything even if its in. I dont have any hoses or wires installed...only 2 things that are in is the bottle sitting in the trunk and the switch which isnt wired to anything...still has the ziptie holding the wires together...lol. Like them to blame the nitrous on anything with it not even hooked up.

Havent had any complaints about the nissan dealership. Although the dealership that ended up taking my Cobalt that i traded in were retards. Claimed it had stuff that didnt, claimed it was a Cobalt LS (it was a SS Supercharged) So my gf emailed them and nicely told them what it was and they said "i been working here for 25 years, i know my cars"
Only time my 370z has been brought in for was after i was finished drag racing and put the passenger seat back in, the air bag light would stop flashing so i had to get them to reset it. Told them i was drag racing and they didnt care..lol. |

I think the burning smell is unrelated and just a coincidence. I've noticed a burning smell a couple times and it disappeared after a good undercarriage rinse. My suspicion is that it's either road grime or wiper fluid burning on the hot cats (windshield runoff drains onto the cats).
Good luck with the issue. Keep us posted on the cause.

not sure off hand how many watts the stock lamp pulls but if you're running higher wattage you should install a relay and run new wiring to the ballast.
from the post it appears to me a user install issue.. or a user created issue. the title of the thread sounds like the car did something wrong on its own which i doubt. |
