Thats ridiculous. When you pick it up, write them a check for the final payment, call the bank and stop payment on it, and let them chase you for 13 months to get it, if they even bother.

Best of luck, hope things get resolved before it turns ugly.

Keep us informed how things end up,I wouldn't have the patients u have shown.Hopefully u get rewarded for your patients and the motor runs great, but I have fears their workmanship matches their professionalism.

I'm not going to name the shop or the owner.

Seriously?!? Why not look out for your fellow Z owners??

At least get your car back and then make sure everyone knows who these scumbags are :shakes head:

He won't bash, but I will.... Taken from his other thread...........
A shop in Langley BC (Canada) called Independent Speed Shop

Braydo, you need to politely buy firmly express your feeling at this point. Start to collect and organize any record of communications. Then, consult an attorney regarding legal ground.

If the shop owner's story is indeed true, being short handed while trying to maintain business sometimes lead to poor decisions, aka leading on the customer as long as he can. What he should've done was tell the truth and ship the car back to you on his dime, then rearrange the transaction once ready, but his shortsightedness took over.

Let's give this a chance, bashing on the shop to high stink may hurt braydo's case. Getting his car back may not be his last dealing with the shop. If something goes wrong after delivery and another shop needs to take over, Braydo still needs the original shop's cooperation on what's done.

I would at a minimum demand to see , inspect the work done and hear it run. It is your car that they cannot deny, and you can make a decision from there.

Actually it can get a whole lot uglier. Temper flares, words get exchanged, then threats may be made, fear of unable to retrieve the car sinks in, both sides lawyer up.....let's not talk about if the build quality isn't good and engine gets toasted....

Shop is a few hours away add to the anxiety.

Spooler 03-31-2018 07:24 PM

Good luck. What a mess. I didn't even read it all. Too painful.

Nixin 03-31-2018 07:36 PM

This is a nightmare. Why did you let this go on for so long? Call the BBB and a lawyer and if that doesn't work then demand your vehicle and money back.

breitwbo 03-31-2018 08:06 PM

Wow, first congrats to you and your bride on your wedding, Not going to talk about what you should have done. I would expect more issues from the shop on deadlines and car quality component installation. Get a lawyer to send them a nasty letter immediately, detailing exactly what you wrote above. Small claims maybe later but you need a lawyer. Submit a complaint to better business. Do negative online reviews. Act civil/professional but you need to let them know you mean business. Documentation is the key and a lawyer will do that for you.
