REPORT: Nissan's Fiesty Mr. K calls out the 370Z — Autoblog

I can appreciate his spirit and perspective, but I think comparatively the 370Z is hands down is the best valued sports car market.

Sounds like Mr K is losing his marbles. It would be nice to have a sub-3000lb sports car with this engine, though. Yowza.

I do agree about the Miata to the 240. I would love to see the return of the 240 or the Silvia in the states. Especially now that Toyota is coming out with there small sports car.

I think you would compete with the Z trying to go with the 240, but the Silvia would A. carry the name, B. not compete with the Z. IMO

thought i read that he has a 350Z and versa... not a 370Z.

im not much of a fan of the 350Z's so i suppose i can understand, but a versa... hummm... the honda fit is a much better car overall and more fun to drive.

I think this really points to the fact that the Z car has grown into a different market segment because the evolution of automobile technology. I think maybe his criticism is slightly misdirected, or misinterpreted.

The 240Z has naturally evolved into the 370Z as a two seat GT car with competitive HP to American muscle cars, with superior handling characteristics and style, just down market from the Corvette. And as result, established a Japanese born American Icon.

The 240SX, on the other hand is better targeted for the sub 3000 lb, 4 cyl market to compete with the miata.

The Z car has evolved in much the same way as other cars, in the pursuit to make a car more competitive within its respective market, a manufacturer will naturally engineer a car up market. For example the Honda Accord has moved up market, as has the Civic, and as a result Honda has replaced the Civic with the Fit as its subcompact econ car.

So I think his criticism of the 370Z is somewhat unfair, and really should be restated as a call to Nissan to bring back the Silvia (as Fusz says) if he really desires a car in the "Miata market".

...Yeah me too. and I thought he was big on the Z33 also (as he owns one). So I'm struggling with why he would be so critical of the Z34

Mr. K was born just 2 years after the Model T was introduced. While he has had the opportunity to see every single car ever produced, choosing his Versa over his Z is just a sign that his reflexes are too slow to cope with anything over 60mph.

Old people like things that are slow, comfy, quiet...why is he 100 years old and still driving anyway? Someone take his license away already!

I can subscribe to this vehicle of thought...
