Aha. One area where Nissan needs to do some improvements, on an otherwise great Sports car.

Life of the paint? What, did you burn through it or something?

A trade I am willing to take.... That is why it is important to keep your Z clean and waxed at all times. While they may have better paint, have you seen how much MORE it costs them??

Keep a good coat of wax and it should do fine. Chips are gonna happen but a good detailer can fix them like new.

I'm going to have to spring for Xpel clear bra for this reason. That will help, at least on some of the most vulnerable areas.

I've seen paint on a Ferrari F430 - car looked amazing, but upon close inspection...orange peel!

I asked the detailer that was showing me his work - he said it's common practice, and a sign of THIN paint.

Maybe it's a golf-ball approach...

That said, sure the paint chips easy, so do other cars. I'll repaint my car when it gets bad enough, and call it a day. Will it hurt the value of the car if it's repainted - sure...but IMO, a chipped up car will be more value-hurt. Even then, I don't intend to sell this car anytime soon...

Wow - a Ferrari should not have orange peel. This is one of those corners they can get away with cutting because they're Ferrari, and none of their owners will second guess them.

Aston may not make the fastest cars, but they know how to do paint

According to the detailer, it's pretty common on a lot of high-end cars...as he said, it's a symptom of thin paint....which thin paint weighs less

Have any of you seen there paint process. It's truly amazing and light years ahead of what they did 4 years ago.

Agree with above. Anyone complaining about paint chips on the front of the car does so for two reasons:

1) Never had a low, sloping front-end car before, or

2) Tailgates cars in front of him.

Nah, Lou, it's easier to make up complaints out of thin air. As I've stated in the past, Nissan's factory painting and QC is state-of-the-art. I think the paint on my Z is fabulous.
