I did 3 IMS bearings over my 11 car ownership - two Boxster S and a 996 Cab. Still worried me in the back of my mind. Always something with those cars!

Sorry - I meant this to go under the person that wrote about the IMS - sort of looking like this reply is out in left field...lol

Funny story. My name is actually Todd. I have a 12 yr old son that is crazy about star wars. I had named one of my Porsches (Boxster S - seal grey - much like the z - with black wheels) Vader... My girlfriend doesn't like evil so when i got this I said what about Vader II and she said - no - Luke was the good guy. We will name it Luke. My son is pissed lol.

Sorry - meant this to go under the post that the person wrote welcome Luke!

I moved to Charlotte 2 years ago from St Johns in Jacksonville. If you want straight line driving - jacksonville is the place to live! I like the hills and turns in charlotte though. But damn it gets cold here!

Welcome :hello:
I like you & many others were drawn to the Z for the cost to wow factor. It has a good balance of performance, was not too steep of a price of entry as new & you can actually work on it / mod it pretty easy without getting a stealership or other shop to involved. All while not lagging too far behind the next set of $10,000+ price of entry vehicles.

"Enjoy the Ride" ;)

We are planning to move to NC this year, probably Hendersonville. I know it gets a little cold, but it's just too hot here in Florida. I've been here almost my whole life and I can't get use to 97 degrees with high humidity. No thanks. So the mountains are where we travel to several times a year, and I can't wait to take my Z on the twisty roads when we move.

Hendersonville is a nice place. Do check out Greenville as well. Beautiful downtown!

Its really nice here. yes it gets cold, but nothing like up north and for the most part - the weather is absolutely stunning. The roads - unreal.

How did your porsche experience compare to the Z? I'm considering both.

Completely different cars. I would say the Boxster S cars i had were the most similar. 3 of my cars were 911 one was twin turbo - 2 of my others were built in the 50s (356) so for comparison sake - lets say Boxster S. Small car, nice power, not a bad interior, but you know...has the Porsche badge. Even the newer ones at 80K plus have slightly better HP than the Z, the newer ones interiors are very nice...but again - it wears the Porsche badge.

For the Money and HP - Z wins in this category hands down. You can throw this car around and not worry about it. You can change the oil for 50 bucks vs 250 in a Porsche. The factor is more on the worry piece. Hard to leave a Porsche anywhere and feel good about it. Z - yeah, its a looker but most people wont mess with it.

911 to Z - zero comparison. 911 hands down, but if you sneeze wrong - its $500 to wipe it down.
