Kind of an insult to all these cars if you ask me. I always considered a muscle car as extremely limited. Fast in a straight line and that's it. In fact, I would consider the muscle car the opposite of a sports car.

It seems like the definition of "muscle car" as used by the author of that article (and everyone else these days) is different from what it used to mean. Modern American muscle cars can handle really well now...in fact, they are some of the best handling "bang for the buck" vehicles around today. Only the older cars from the 60s and 70s handled poorly. So I'll take the compliment happily!

I don’t know if I would consider my Z a muscle car. I don’t even think they consider the GTR a muscle car, but rather a performance machine.

What's up with the four doors being included in this list?
I understand our Z's shouldn't be included in there either because I consider a 2 seater a sports car. Geez these young writers today. |

Yeah that's just because there is only 2 other car's from Japan that meet the muscle car specs (RWD, 2Door, Front Engine, "cheap"). Unless you change what the definition of a muscle car the 370z will always be a Japanese muscle car.

I don't know. When I hear the term muscle car I get visions of Vin Diesel yanking on a shifter....in a car that is probably an automatic. I consider the Z a sports car and that's it. Is a Ferrari an Italian muscle car?

I feel like the Z has kind of a big burley rugged feel to it(at least for its size) and thats why it gets put in the category of "Japanese muscle car". It has some muscle car qualities while having the handling of a Japanese sports car.

Hmm..considering the average height of a Japanese is around 5'5"
Maybe I'll agree the 370 Z is good enough for a muscle car to a Japanese perspective. But not in any way the American muscle description. Hell, They even call the GTR as Godzilla. A Japanese version of an American icon King Kong. Last edited by Zoren 370; 12-15-2017 at 12:32 AM. |

the title of the article is "Japanese Muscle Car", so it's about Japanese production cars, and the writer already explain how they define the difference between Japanese muscle cars and American muscle cars...
so why do you guys throw in all those opinions about American muscle cars?? but.... I am little when seeing a Maxima is on the list..... Last edited by alcheng; 12-15-2017 at 05:35 PM. |
