Default Question on DSG...

In terms of going 0-70 for the highway, which is faster Automatic mode or Manual mode? Don't feel like spirited driving yet because I have a new car and I am trying to break-in.

The only time I will probably use manual mode is when I wanna pass someone by down shifting even then I can just leave it on auto and just use the calipers.

DSG? This car does not have a dsg. It has a regular torque converter driven automatic. Regardless, automatic mode will be faster for something like merging on the highway. The computer will do the thinking and shift at the best points for you.

Using the paddles in manual mode is best when there are lots of turns so you can control your car's speed more so with the engine rather than brakes.

There are several threads on break-in procedures that have the info you want.

Sorry to mislead you. I am not asking about break-in. I just dont want to find out myself which is faster on a dual shift car since I have a fairly new car.

From 0,,,Leaving in "D" with traction control on is probably quicker.

Don't know much about cars, I just assumed that if I have Manual and Automatic transmission that it is DSG. For the automatic shifting at the optimal RPMs, I think it never goes over like 5k RPMS for me. Isn't lower gear means higher torque/acceleration? If it keeps going to the next gear at 3-4k RPMs, how is that optimal?

Can't find that out on your own? You already have the car after all....

Edit: nevermind, just read your latest response.

Why would you turn off traction control?

Huh... I really thought the manual would win. I can't wait to drive mine like I just stole it.

314+ rwhp makes a difference from stock & pending which diff i have in....3rd could peak at either 80 or 90mph.
Tc de-torques power a tad to ensure traction,,,in my case-sometimes it will up-shift to 2nd just after launch.

1st 4 gears are lower in the A/T...Thus faster in the 1/4 mile & 0-60, pending driver & track conditions.

Okay last question before MODS can close this. What is a WOT and how do you do it? From what you said, does it mean to floor it?

Just be sure that your diff is an LSD (posi-traction) as an open/single traction one will spin one tire much more than other.
A few aftermarket choices for this up-grade if you're without one.
