Whats the best price???

Right not I am negotiating with a California dealership for a sport/touring, yellow, AT, illum plates, floor mats, trunk mat. The best price I have got is about $2900 off or about $300 over invoice. I contacted every dealership in Southern California (internet sales). Most were selling MSRP but a few gave good prices. I think I am going to go with that price. By the way that will be a special order car and the price stays. Some dealerships do not charge $500 extra for yellow. this one does not...so more savings there.. Any thoughts??

Invoice + $300 on a car released a week ago? Do it.

I paid sticker, seems like a really good deal right now. I suspect some people that were waiting for the Camaro will start cross shopping the Z since Camaro production was delayed.

I ordered same exact car as you & I'm paying $500 for the paint.
Count yourself real lucky here & grab this car before someone else does!

 agreed.

I'm going to see if my local dealership will match the price. Either was, after sleeping on it, I am going to get it. I am looking forward to posting my review and comparing it with the 335. thanks again for all the input. I would love to hear any other good deals out there so that we can all pay the lowest price possible.

Rich 01-10-2009 01:05 PM

I'm in the Los Angeles area and shopping for the best local price. I would appreciate it if anyone would pass along a recommendation of where to buy. I would be pleased to find the deal that John370Z found.
You can send any suggestions directly to my email: RichSherer@aol.com
Thank you.

speedworks 01-10-2009 02:40 PM

I would do it. I just purchased one today for $400 over invoice. I had many dealers say they wouldn't even match that - which is interesting because they would rather not sell a car and make $0 vs sell a car and make $400.

I hate greedy dealerships like that. And I'm sure they made more than $400 from your sale, there's no way they paid the invoice prices as a dealership.

I'm sure in a day or two, some of those dealerships will give you a call to come in and 'talk things over' again, this is when you can stop by in your 370z and say 'thanks, but no thanks' in person. :D

At least $400. You buy the warranty, that's at least a grand in their pocket. Buy gap, probably another $500. Paint protection, Lojack, leather conditioning, the list goes on.
Then how about regular service over the life of the vehicle, things like oil/filter changes, brake changes and so on. It may seem like they only make $400, but it's quite more.

speedworks 01-10-2009 04:41 PM

Sure but its only 400 for now. Service is another story. I do most of my own work.

sensi09 01-10-2009 06:19 PM

Even if a dealer sells at invoice, they're still making a profit.

john370z 01-10-2009 08:02 PM

The dealership called me and said that there is a $500 charge or yellow, but they said that will honor the original quote. That puts the quote $100 under invoice. I'm pretty stoked. I feel this deal is the one to take. I'll let you know how it goes...

Zguy 01-10-2009 08:53 PM

What are the list prices for each of the trims? I cant find it anywhere... I would love to know what the dealers are paying for them before I go in.... I went and looked at one today but it was 42k.... a bit rich for me....

+1,000,000. They don't buy cars one by one, but in bulks so at invoice, they're still making profit.

tvfreakazoid 01-11-2009 01:47 AM

Of course they are still making a tons of money even if they sell it under msrp. They have to inflate the price in order to stay in business. Think about it. Here's an example how much company inflate prices. take best buy for instance. I know some people that works for them. They can buy a tv stand 5% above cost of what the company pays for. So, a $400 tv stand, the employees get it for just over $200. They have to inflate prices in order to make profit.
So, those 370z that are msrp for $35k, I bet it's roughly half that of what they pay for. I'm sure if they order so many at a time they probably get a discount. That's why I want to try hard to pay under Msrp. But it's going to be hard to wheel and deal them because it's a popular car. If the car wasn't so popular you might be able to negotiate a better price. As for the economy being bad, i want to take advantage of that in hopes I can get a decent deal. But it does suck that our economy is shitty. :eekdance:

Just in case anyone was wondering about holdback, this a quote from Edmund's on what the Nissan holdback is.

Quote:

Nissan: 2% of the Total Invoice
Dealerships have many ways other than holdback of making money from the producer, so "Invoice" is the only price to pay in this sort of economy.

Rich 01-11-2009 08:00 PM

I'm willing to pay $500 over invoice for a white, persimmon or gray interior, touring, 6-speed and navigation. I'm in the Los Angeles area. Anyone have a suggestion of who may be willing to sell on these terms?

RichSherer@aol.com

john370z 01-11-2009 08:13 PM

I know the dealership in Clovis Ca will do better than that. Ask for Alex at Nissan of Clovis (1-866-673-4091) Tell him that John Brown sent you. He is working me a deal better than the one you want.
Good luck
John

Empire Nissan at ONTARIO CA has one White/Gray 6MT with Nav.

If it is white/Persimmon Leather, 6MT and sport package, I would probably get it already.

It's annoying when you post an emoticon after every post. Most of the time, using them wrong, ie the 'owned' smiley. This is why people are commenting on your behavior...
