A quart of oil, a gallon of gas and a pack of Marlboro Reds. Each of those were 50 cents right then. And she got one of each and every single day with her 6 quarters.

But an even more memorable part was that she must have been allergic to money because she always handed me her change with a rubber glove on.....

To this very day, I’m scared of anyone with a rubber glove on, because I know someone is going to get their oil checked...
In the early '70's. I worked at a gas station in a college town. Had one guy in a Triumph TR6. He used to bum money from everyone. Everyday at the same time. He would come in and get gas. Anywhere from $.85 to $2.00. The price of gas at this time was around $.40 a gallon. On Friday when he would come in to get gas. His car would be loaded up with dirty clothes. He went home every Friday for the weekend.

Not to hijack this thread, but all the horror stories concerning American car quality makes me angry. There really was something criminal about Detroit knowingly foisting absolute crap on the buying public and to getting away with it so long. It wasn't just one company but all of them. I swore I would never buy another American car and even though I know the quality is better, I never will. Rant over!

For a while. The Japanese was just as bad, if not worst. Early Civic's were great for head gaskets and being complete rust buckets. My 1990 Nissan Hardbody 4x4. The inner fenders and bed rusted out in 7 years.

Yeah, you are right. My '79 Civic had pretty poor paint and were also know for the shock towers rusting out. But, it never let me down and always started no matter the weather. I had a Maverick that wouldn't start on a beautiful summer day...totally at random. My big three cars were always leaving my stranded. The Japanese cars were just better engineered.

Same here on both accounts. I was kind of shocked when I had the service done before storage and was told I only did 400 miles this summer. Now she is sitting till March with 5300 miles.

Mine stays parked if there’s a lot of rain in forecast or a rare snow chance; otherwise I let it gulp the cold air & enjoy it year round.

Well not living far from you, I'm the same way. Though my Z is not my dd, I do run it weekly and am getting about 12k a year on it.

No storage for me

Rusty; that 7A/T works really well with those 3.692 diff gears!
Almost 90k on mine & shifts are on spot-as long as my fluid is clean.
It’s like a Tranny Tune-Up every time I perform a drain & fill.

Cali, the land of flakes, nuts, and fruits. I don't like the taxes, politic's, anti-gun, drugs, homeless, home prices, and a few other things that I won't mention. The only thing you have have going for you is the weather.

When I finally button her up for the long winter nap, I will have put 25K on this season. I have date nights where I listen to tunes and drink beer in her over the winter. Nice to have heated garage.
