Touring w/Sport or Base w/Sport?

I'm having trouble deciding whether to to order Touring w/sport, or just plain clothseats, cheap stereo base w/sport.

Curious to what the consensus here is on the Touring Model:

I personally don't see the benefits of the Touring model if you aren't interested in navigation. The seats and stereo can be swapped out or reupholstered with much higher quality if you don't like them.

Thats true, but a lot of people like the stock look/fit of the stock system.

TacoZ 01-10-2009 12:39 AM

I for one like the stock look. I only like to mod engine I don't like to mod interior. I vote Touring AND Sport + Navigation.

If you plan on modding, than No. If not than Yes.

I have a wierd paranoia in my head that if I get the Touring, and I'm aware of the 40+ pounds heavier it is, might hurt performance by just a little. I know it's an invalid fear in that a gallon of gas weighs 6lbs so the weight will shift well over 75 pounds in a tankful.

I guess If I'm this freaked out about weight I'd better wait for the Nismo...

Just hit the gym and lose 40lbs to cover it. And drive naked ... no clothes will save you a couple lbs

frost is not afraid of the cold. :rofl2:

If the seat/door material matters to you, and you don't plan on changing it, get the Touring.

If you don't mind the Bose audio because you don't plan to change to aftermarket stereo and speakers, get the Touring. Well if you do, this route might cost more.

If "not" having Homelink Auto-dimming mirrors is a deal breaker, keep the Touring.

In terms of door and seat materials, that's just it with the Touring. You can get some lighter weight aftermarket seats and give the door panels a makeover. It might cost more, but at least you don't have to deal with Bose.

:ugh:

Btw, voted for just base with sports package. This is the lightest and best possible setup performance wise (IMO)

TacoZ 01-10-2009 02:39 AM

I love performance and that's the reason why I like the 370Z so much but to be truthful, I'm not out there racing people or doing autocross so the extra weight doesn't bother me at all. I just want a fun car to drive as well as all the luxuries.

Out of the touring package, all I really want is leather, but since I can't have that by itself, I'll take the whole package.

Lighter is better, but the extra weight that this package incurs is not a big deal at all.

All I really want from the Touring model is the leather. The upgraded audio system, bluetooth, etc dont really matter so much to me. Besides, if you really need nav, you can get an after market system for much less and the new ones typically have bluetooth. That's my plan anyway.

I'm a traditionalist in regards to a sports car, all I want is acceleration, handling, braking, and lastly style. Driving is not just a means to an end for me; it's an end in itself. Driving is what puts the smile on my face, not the audio system.

but the fact that you'll be blasting ac/dc back in black while attacking mountain curves will also put a smile on your face with the upgraded sound system.

touring+sport.

leather seats are so worth it, especially the suede! chicks dig suede. no it wont help you get in thier pants but im just sayin...
