2013 sports Z vs 2016, which to buy..
Locally, there is a 2016 Z with 12k miles and a 2013 sports Z with only 23k miles. The 2016 cost as listed is $25k, the 2013 is listed as $21.5k. Which would interest you?
I am thinking the 2016 as the better choice. |
Well Depends also weather the 2016 Car got Accident or not.?
|
That 2016 pricing is inline with what I paid earlier this year for my 2016.
Chan Chee Hoe makes a good point, pay for the report to be sure it wasn't crashed. |

The 2016 is automatic the 2013 is manual. For most folks that would decide it. :)
three owners is pretty crazy for a car that young.... |
Another thing to consider: The 16 still has a year or more full warranty I'm assuming.
3 owners?! What up wit dat???? |
sport has items the base doesnt,,negotiate price... the 2016 has TOOOO many owners,,,something of a red flag there to me..
|
2013
I am in agreement with the other replies I would feel better with the 2013 try and talk them down, its almost the end of summer they will want to move that car pretty soon
|
3 owners is crazy so they drove it each for 4k miles? Somethings up there I agree with the other comments, talk them down on the 13 and enjoy the manual

3 owners, that bit fishy. since you got car report, check where the car originated? when was the first purchase?
|
If its a AT v 6mt, the choice is yours. But as everyone said..
12k miles and 3 owners would be a shaker for myself- but there could be a chance that they owned it for a weekend warrior. IMO, i would take the 13, talk down the price and spend it on mods Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
2013 sports Z vs 2016, which to buy..
I'd go for the '13. Sport, Nismo wheels, headunit, etc.
It's also possible that some of those "owners" are dealers. That's the way it was on my Juke. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Id rather have the 2013 over the 2016 just because its a sport VS a base. The sports package is a good bargain for what you get LSD, bigger brakes and synchro rev match. Not to mention the 2013 looks to have some tasteful mods already on it. The miles to me isnt really a big deal 12k vs 23k isnt that much of difference for me to justify a base over a sport and the 2013 is also cheaper. Nissan didnt change much on these cars since 2009 so you are essentially getting less car with the 2016. Only reason I could see someone choosing that specific 2016 over the 2013 is because 1. They dont care about the sports package 2. Its still in warranty 3. You prefer the auto.
|
Fun > warranty.
|
Barring any sneaky stuff, I'd wish I had a chance to get that 2013.
|
Get an eduction about the Z and hold out for the car that has the options you want. Also, make sure it has the transmission you prefer.
The only compromise I would make would be age and mileage. I was actually in a similar situation. I'm thankful that I made the right decision because I intend to keep this car long term. I actually had a great time shopping for my Z. |
I prefer Sport to Base, but be careful not to buy one with problems..

Is it me or does the '13 look like it has an after market exhaust as well as the wheels and headunit. The only thing that I don't like about the '13 is that the seats look 'rough' but maybe that is bc they are cloth and the previous owners spilt something or maybe bad lighting. Regardless - I would take 6MT > AT any day of the week. Plus sport like previous peeps have said include LSD and larger brakes.

Aftermarket exhaust and intakes. The wheels are current generation Nismo wheels.

I am not a pro gambler, I play Blackjack recreationally. I am sad that some pass judgements without knowing me and begrudge an old man for having coupes on his bucket list. None of the cars were financed. I store my small casino winnings and explore trading my car, paying the difference from my wins, usually a few thousand each year. |

It's like Fuzzzy said, you are a fretter, always worried about the 'next' car, and apparently never happy with what you have. We don't begrudge or judge you on what you do, it's the constant 'what about this car?' that gets old. You said it yourself, you are 69 years old, can't you make your own decisions or do you require validation from others? If you require 'validation', that makes you insecure. Attitude of gratitude, dude.... |

In any case, the 2013 I was looking at got sold. I am looking at a 2017, clear car fax but it has 19500+ miles. Should I worry? 2017 Nissan 370Z for sale in St. Louis MO from Schicker Ford St. Louis North |

I've bought cars from both those dealers. Bening (Ricky Latham) and Sinclair ( internet sales guy, don't remember his name). My Z came from Sinclair (2009 sport/touring). Both were good to deal with. If you go to Bening tell Ricky, mr. Bill said hello.

A new base model under $29000 is not available in my area. A savings of $6k over a new car but 19k miles? Dealer says it's likely all highway miles. |
From OP's thread in December 2016:
"After a 350 and two 370z's, it was hard giving it up but age, poorer eyesight and slower reactions made my driving dangerous in the Z." OP, it's great to hear that you are no longer a danger while driving a Z! |

Not to mention his admitted inability to avoid trying to race everything in sight, leading him to buy a Miata so he wouldn't keep doing it. |
Miata ended up a bit too small on the long trips I make. When I pull into a rest stop, seat does not decline and it's tough to take a nap.
Two years later, I think I am better able to control the urge to face on streets. Alas, the only car I find attractive is the 370z. Only other one would be the Infiniti could but it costs more. |

In the two years since December 2016 when you posted that? Does time pass differently when you get that close to the finish line of life? |

Time passes fast as you get older. Fact that your father and other male blood relatives all went around 75-85, many developing tough age related ailments (eyesight, wheelchair, etc.) , there is a sense of urgency. You see a bucket list and you throw out some you will never get to and others you do as quickly as possible so you can get to as many as possible. With cars, sure I can put off buying another with the $5k, wait till I save more and in 5 years I can buy a vette or a Porsche but could I get in one at 75? Hell, I can't drive a stick shift anymore because of arthritic condition in my left leg. You might understand better when a whole lot of folks your age start dying. This year, several musicians my age passed away, Walter Becker (google him) this week. |
So, when you get to the point where you feel Death's cold, icy breath on the back of your neck, December 2016 is two years ago? So age effects math?
|
Wait... let me get this straight. He's got 50+ years of driving experience, but it's only in the last 18 months that he has "been better able to control the urge to race" everyone on the road?
|
Not to mention he's bought several of these cars, but needs his hand held to figure out if he wants another one with the sport package or without?
Dementia is a real ************. |
It doesn't matter which package he gets... he'll still find something to whine about. And start five different threads about it.
|
And then sell the car. And then buy another one. Wash, rinse, repeat until OP becomes room temperature.

Perhaps I should have linked the thread he started in December for illustration. It is locked, so I hope linking to it isn't against the rules here. Not to say "I told you so," but please note that I told him then that we would see him again in a few months ;) Time to leave--(Dec 2016) |
