2013 sports Z vs 2016, which to buy..

Get an eduction about the Z and hold out for the car that has the options you want. Also, make sure it has the transmission you prefer. The only compromise

The only compromise I would make would be age and mileage.

I was actually in a similar situation. I'm thankful that I made the right decision because I intend to keep this car long term. I actually had a great time shopping for my Z.

I prefer Sport to Base, but be careful not to buy one with problems..

Is it me or does the '13 look like it has an after market exhaust as well as the wheels and headunit. The only thing that I don't like about the '13 is that the seats look 'rough' but maybe that is bc they are cloth and the previous owners spilt something or maybe bad lighting. Regardless - I would take 6MT > AT any day of the week. Plus sport like previous peeps have said include LSD and larger brakes.

Aftermarket exhaust and intakes. The wheels are current generation Nismo wheels.

OP trades cars like baseball cards. Maybe other people do the same. He's a part-time pro gambler rolling in dough.

OP has already had at least a couple of Zs. More IIRC. He's a fretter, but he is always seeking advice which he will inevitably ignore. Proceed at your own risk.

Fuzzy is right. At 69 years, I don't have much time left to drive low slung coupes. Among the cars I have had in the last 10 years are the 2002 Celica, the 2004 RX8, the 2006 350Z, the 2009 RX8, the 2010 Mazda Miata, the 2013 370Z (Black base), the 2014 Gunmetal sports 370Z, my current 2016 Mazda Miata and wanting to go back to a 370Z

I am not a pro gambler, I play Blackjack recreationally.

I am sad that some pass judgements without knowing me and begrudge an old man for having coupes on his bucket list. None of the cars were financed. I store my small casino winnings and explore trading my car, paying the difference from my wins, usually a few thousand each year.

Not to be a hater, but let's look at that list. It seems to me that you are spending time/money/effort to chase a car that will get you hot chicks... FFS man, I get it, but the only thing the young chickies want is a sugar daddy to pay their bills while they party it up at the club....and MAYBE give you a taste....

It's like Fuzzzy said, you are a fretter, always worried about the 'next' car, and apparently never happy with what you have. We don't begrudge or judge you on what you do, it's the constant 'what about this car?' that gets old. You said it yourself, you are 69 years old, can't you make your own decisions or do you require validation from others? If you require 'validation', that makes you insecure.

Attitude of gratitude, dude....

I dont want validation but I am always open to different opinions. mature adults address the message, not the messenger. Mature adults move past threads that they do not have an interest in. Obviously, some here are only interested in going online to bully someone or the other.

In any case, the 2013 I was looking at got sold. I am looking at a 2017, clear car fax but it has 19500+ miles. Should I worry?

That's a 2017 base model with almost 20,000 miles on it. For 3-4K more you can get a brand new 2017 base with 0 miles. I'd buy new over that any day.

I've bought cars from both those dealers. Bening (Ricky Latham) and Sinclair ( internet sales guy, don't remember his name). My Z came from Sinclair (2009 sport/touring). Both were good to deal with. If you go to Bening tell Ricky, mr. Bill said hello.

I really don't see the OP as a fretter, he appears to me as a fellow enthusiast who enjoys trying different vehicles and likes sharing is purchase adventures. For some as Wayne Carini says "it's all about the chase". And I for one enjoy car shopping (the chase).

He now has the 2017 priced at $23990. Car fax shows the car had under 100 miles when sold in 9/2016. Owner put $19k miles and returned it in 4/2017, that is 8 months. Car looks and sounds like new.

A new base model under $29000 is not available in my area. A savings of $6k over a new car but 19k miles?

Dealer says it's likely all highway miles.

From OP's thread in December 2016:

"After a 350 and two 370z's, it was hard giving it up but age, poorer eyesight and slower reactions made my driving dangerous in the Z."

OP, it's great to hear that you are no longer a danger while driving a Z!

Not to mention his admitted inability to avoid trying to race everything in sight, leading him to buy a Miata so he wouldn't keep doing it.

Miata ended up a bit too small on the long trips I make. When I pull into a rest stop, seat does not decline and it's tough to take a nap.

Two years later, I think I am better able to control the urge to face on streets. Alas, the only car I find attractive is the 370z. Only other one would be the Infiniti could but it costs more.
