Question: i wanna ask about clutch and flywheel
hey guys, i just wanna learn more about this, cause i do'nt quite understand it very much, i've seen clutch upgrades and flywheels, but what exactly are they for, and whats the difference? (i've seen a couple of videos that shows that the car revs faster, but does that really mean it goes faster?)..
also another question, i've heared this a lot, about it's not good to launch ur car a lot, may i ask why? (btw, this is my first sports, but not the first i drove) is it because of the clutch? and if so, then i don't understand why it's not good for the GT-R either??.. anyways, i hope someone could tell me something about this.. and thanks in advance to everyone.. p.s. sorry if this seems stupid and repetitive, but i could hardly find any info on that. |
I'll give it a shot. The stock flywheel from nissan is heavy compared to an aftermarket version ex. jwt. It allows for better engine response as it will rev up faster, you'll get some clutch clatter though. Nissan went with a heavy flywheel for noise reduction purposes. People tend to upgrade clutches when they make a lot more power but some just do it for the feel. It shouldn't be high on your list of mods unless you are heavily modified or doing heavy engine and drivetrain work and want to limit installation costs down the road.

i see, thanks for your quick reply.. and no i'm not planning on modding anything just yet, i wanna enjoy the car as it is right now, and try to track it sometime during the spring, and if later i needed more, i'll try and do few upgrades (i wanna enjoy it, little by little, i dun wanna do everything all at once).
