With the current information it is difficult to come to a definitive conclusion. When Technosquare did the original test of the G3 on an automatic, it actually lost hp in the low and midrange and gained a little on the high end. This test was done with the front bumper on and when they removed it they showed a gain over most of the range. Later they did a test on a manual and they showed some gains with the bumper on and more with the bumper off. Others on this board show good gains with the bumper on.
I think one thing is definite - if you perform the Modshack vent modification you will measure gains regardless which intake you are using. This mod really forces cool air into the intake. One other thought - I really think that there is no way valid way to test most modifications on these cars even on a dyno. When you deal with heat soak, trying to guess how long the ecu takes to fully register the changes, and not being able to create flowing air into the engine, the results will always be suspect.

If you are convinced they don't make a difference or that one can't be measured then don't get them. Of course I'm sure you'll be scratching your head when you are on the dyno looking at 15 whp less than everyone else.

Why don't you read the entire post. I didn't say that they didn't help. I have an R2C intake and the Berk HFCs and I'm sure they help. There is a lot of conflicting information on the G3s and Injens. I also did the Modshack Vent Mod and I know that helps because I can read the intake air temps. I have recently had several dynos performed with my Uprev tune and heat soak on an aluminum engine can start quickly especially when using fans (trying to create actual conditions). And can you tell me, being a true 370Z fanatic, how long it takes for the ecu to adjust to the changes everytime you make an adjustment?

Program Long and short term fuel trims into your scangauge and you can watch this as it happens... Usually 20-40 miles before the long term trims set.

Chuck, here's a link to Stillen's product page for the G3. As you can see, they themselves call them long tubes.

haha my apologies... seemed cheesey to me... no pun intended

Yea I did remember reading somewhere about the stock intakes being very well made and efficient. My S2000 was the same case.

IMO go with the drop ins and do the modshack DIY vent thing and you have 90% of the gains that the long tubes say they get for 10% of the cost and you dont have to take your bumper off to clean the filters every few thousand miles. I say few thousnad miles cuz once the filters even start to get dirty gains decrease quickly.

They don't get dirty that quickly. Seriously. The way they're located up above the front crash bar and suck in air from behind, they stay pretty clean. Take a look at these pics. I took them just a few weeks ago. Look at the filters. And I have about 6k miles on them. (I had my fascia off to install my oil cooler.)
