Shift Knob Removal -All you need
Okay we all know that the shift knob is a bitch to remove.
I purchased the following items to remove it today after some research. Some have used this for the knob and a wrench to hold the lower portion but this is all you need: Craftsman 2 pc 16'' Rubber Strap Wrench Set (link below where I purchased it) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 15 bucks and its Craftsman ...many other useful reasons to purchase too. Large one goes around the head of the knob Small one around the shift lever base ( lower area beneath the boot) to not allow it to turn. I even made a small mark on the shift lever base with some white paint to confirm that it was not turning. The bands are a thick rubber that does not damage the knob nor the shift lever base. Gives you plenty of leverage. Just wanted to share!

I had two strap wrenches, unfortunately neither of them provided enough leverage. I ended up wrapping my shift knob with a bunch of painters tape and using a huge pipe wrench. It was still a b!tch to get off! One tiny little nick on the stock knob.

Was it a craftsman strap wrench? Cause the strap on this is seriously thick on the large one ...no way you could break it on a knob.

Mine came right off with a little muscle. Maybe some more gym time is warranted?

Really different for many of us. Mine was tight and that didn't work. Wrapped mine with good amount of duct tape, a towel, and large jaw vice grip.

Truth, I twisted the hell out of it the whole way even with the strap wrench I mentioned ..it was not easy but no way I can imagine anyone taking it off with just two hands...maybe a serial killer specializing in throat choking..

I invited Chuck Norris over and he scared my shift knob off
Actually I used this with a breaker bar and some massive plyers on the shifter shaft...
