Buy 2010 or wait for 2011?

I'm on the verge of buying a 2010 370z, but it recently came to my attention that the 2011 370's will be getting direct injection and a 20-30 hp bump. I'm wondering, would it be wise to just wait for the 2011 or should I just get the 2010 now. Also, can anyone confirm that the 2011 will indeed be getting the aforementioned upgrades?

Thanks

theDreamer 12-13-2009 08:25 PM

No news has hit about the 2011 Z yet, I would say buy and enjoy now. If you need more power there are plenty of aftermarket parts now which will fit your need.

iceman21_23 12-13-2009 08:27 PM

resdm i wouldn't hold your breath for the 2011's nissan is making little money on the z car look for it to stay the same till the car is either thrown into a hybrid version 2013 or the z35 comes out in 2014

StLRedrider 12-13-2009 08:30 PM

:iagree: buy it now!!!!

frost 12-13-2009 08:38 PM

Your car isn't even 2 years old yet and it's getting the boot? I would say hold on to your current car as long as possible. You can buy one of the first 400Zs.

Hybrid? Not the Z, that would kill the image of the Z.

azn370z 12-13-2009 09:06 PM

The Infiniti m v6 didn't get di so most likely z won't get if for 2011. I'm not sure you really want di if you plan to mod your engine.

i really think Nissan is going to push this issue and try and develop the first hybrid sports car be it the z or another sporty model i really think there gonna push that issue hard.

I read an article on Jalopnik that they might be thinking of doing this with the GT-R after they are done with the R35. Now it is still early as to what Nissan plans to do with both lines, but I do agree one or the other is going to be turned into hybrid(ish) sports car.

:rofl2: EVEN Carlos Ghosn (CEO Nissan corp) has NO idea what's going to be the changes in 2011 370z model! I'm surprised that you know more than him!

Just buy the car now and enjoy it. You won't be seeing any changes until 2012 and new model in 2015 (this is just me following the trend of 350z).

NYBladeZ 12-13-2009 10:06 PM

wow we're already discussing a 2011 hybrid redo? OP read around the board it's not that difficult to get an extra 20-30hp.

theDreamer 12-13-2009 10:14 PM

Wait...why are we even talking about this, clearly you should be buying a 2004.5 350z.

JakeZ34 12-13-2009 10:15 PM

seriously where are you hearing this DI thing? I havn't even fully heard the changes of the 2010 and you got scoop on 2011 already? I honestly say just buy the damn 2010 and enjoy the car and stop worrying about the NEXT generation of Zs. It'll come but not 2011, it'll most likely just stay with the same chassis for the next 4 or 5 years like the 350Z. Sure there were engine upgrades but hey whatever, you don't want to be living in the "future" live the now.

Buy a 2009 for a killer deal, do what I did to mine for a 55 hp bump and then all will be right with the world.

GTRFAN 12-14-2009 03:20 AM

You'll get a crazy low price on a 2009 if you get one of the last clearance ones from a dealer early next year. Why wait for a 2011 that will be basically the same car and cost you more $ and wasted time? Makes no sense.

In 2011 we'll all be looking ahead to upgrade. ;)

areyouin729 12-14-2009 10:48 AM

what is the point of waiting for 20-30

buy the Z it's a great car and where do you get your info from? I don't understand people who just see HP numbers

if that is case get a used G8, it's an awesome car :rofl2:

I'll assume you have financial data to back your claim that Nissan "makes little money on the Z car". Looking forward to your link. :tiphat:

400Z? I heard it was a Hybrid 500Z with a V-10.

Blown32 12-14-2009 11:03 AM

Silly speculation and rumors all the time!

AFIAK, direct injection doesn't mean more power.

And to the above posts - doesn't our car already have direct ignition? I mean we have coil on plug...

Direct injection is not the same thing as direct ignition. The former pertains to fuel delivery. The latter doesn't. But to answer your question, yes we have direct ignition. That was previously mentioned in the thread.

I guess I got posts crossed.

blinkme323 12-15-2009 01:55 AM

Just grab the 09/10. You just don't know what the '11 will have in store - it could be the same, better, or even worse. Get the sure thing...

gumpy 12-15-2009 03:50 PM

if a new z comes out with DI (and uses 10% less fuel) and has an engine that wails... i'm gonna cry... and then get over it...

Z-WHIZ 12-16-2009 08:55 AM

Just grab the 09.

resdm50 12-16-2009 04:30 PM

Thanks for the input so far guys, I think I'm going to go for a leftover 2009. FWIW, it was a salesman at the dealership who said that they would be getting direct injection for 2011, so I guess take it for what you will.

iceman21_23 12-16-2009 04:44 PM

salesmen know nothing, half of them think the z has a backseat.

LOL. I agree -- salesmen know nothing. In fact, you just reminded me, I went into the dealership in Dec. of '08 to ask when they expected the 370Z to come in (I had just totaled my 350Z). Their response was that the 370 wouldn't be released until 2010. I rolled my eyes and left. Then I returned in January and picked up my 370. I couldn't resist making a wisecrack about how we must've traveled into the future. They were like, what do you mean? So I said it must be 2010 already, seeing how the 370 had arrived.

I slay me. :bowrofl:

NYBladeZ 12-16-2009 05:07 PM

I had the same response when a salesman wanted $45K for a touring+sp...you have got to be kidding me
