Thanks for the input so far guys, I think I'm going to go for a leftover 2009. FWIW, it was a salesman at the dealership who said that they would be getting direct injection for 2011, so I guess take it for what you will.

Wait the dealer told you? Besides the fact that salesman are clueless, why was he talking up the 2011 when you were trying to buy an 09/10? lol

LOL. I agree -- salesmen know nothing. In fact, you just reminded me, I went into the dealership in Dec. of '08 to ask when they expected the 370Z to come in (I had just totaled my 350Z). Their response was that the 370 wouldn't be released until 2010. I rolled my eyes and left. Then I returned in January and picked up my 370. I couldn't resist making a wisecrack about how we must've traveled into the future. They were like, what do you mean? So I said it must be 2010 already, seeing how the 370 had arrived.

I slay me. :bowrofl:

 I remember walking into my local Nissan dealer after January 2nd. They had a 370Z in their show room. As I'm checking out the z, one of the salesman approach me and started telling me about the Z (lol.. I know. I can probably teach this guy but I'm just listening like a noob). I asked him I would like the base with sports pack. He told me that I can't add sport pack to the Z unless I get Touring Model. I asked him, where he heard such thing? He told me that it's straight from Nissan USA. I left the floor laughing!

:bowrofl: :icon17: did you do it?

370Zsteve 12-20-2009 07:07 AM

My salesman told me that if I rotate the tires they will last twice as long :icon14:

He also told me the car comes with a full-size spare and isn't it nice that you get five of these nice wheels and tires.

I'm wondering, would it be wise to just wait for the 2011 or should I just get the 2010 now. Also, can anyone confirm that the 2011 will indeed be getting the aforementioned upgrades?

Thanks

If you can wait until 2011, then there will probably be another vehicle that is better and newer at that time. You can wait forever waiting for the next upgrade. Don't wait while your life passes you by.

Where did you read about direct injection? I've only heard about a hybrid version and the 40th anniversary edition.
Link please.
If your not in a hurry to get a car right now just wait for the direct injection version, if the rumors are true. Then when you get aftermarket parts for it you will have even more power

Wait, what about the super-fast, F&F Civic or better yet, a supercharged Yaris!!!!

TongMan 07-19-2010 03:05 AM

I was also told that the sports package is only available for the touring. It's embarrassing.

Yes, you can just go out and buy yourself a new '10, and start enjoying it right now, or you can hold off just a couple of months.

Then you'll have two other good options. You can wait for the 2011, you'll pay a premium price, but get the latest and greatest, or you can wait for the '11's to hit the market and get a 2010 "left over" and probably get a real good deal because they want to move them out.

I am very happy with the 2010, and don't see how the 2011 can be much better. Maybe more power, maybe not, but if more power means that much to you, you can add it on yourself later. The savings by buying the '10 may be the deal breaker. You can't go wrong with the '10.

Jeffblue 07-19-2010 08:34 AM

depends what you are going for. If you want touring/sport/nav, waiting might be worth it b/c you get a factory camera and some other niceties i'm sure. But if you're just gonna go base, i'd say just jump on one now. you can't live life worrying if you bought a really awesome car one year too early. And truthfully, i'd just get one now and save the money. Unless you really want that other shade of gray they are offering. Plus, if you wait till 2011, and then they do a model refresh in 2012 you're gonna be like 'NO! i should have waited!'

elmz 07-20-2010 10:52 AM

I say get one now. Unless there is a good chance the 370 is going direct injection, then I would wait. If there are/were any information of this happenning you would most likely see it on this forum, but that has yet to be seen.
