sorry man wouldn't count on it, I'm sure it'll be serviceable but it just won't feel as tight

Glad no one got hurt. Also, what does it take for the insurance company to deem it a total loss? Isn't that a better option considering how much damage was done to the Z and all..

This is a terrible thing, Juan. I'm rather shocked the insurance company didn't just declare it a total loss. Glad to hear it is coming back together...keep Mom away from this car!

With that logic, it may drive even better.

Well?

Hey Juan, something I'm hoping you can explain. You said your mom popped the clutch at 60mph. How exactly does one go about doing that? Popping the clutch is typically something you do when you're doing a hard launch or burnout from a standstill. i.e., depress the clutch pedal, put it into 1st gear, hold the revs at around 4k rpm, then literally just pop clutch in while you mash down on the accelerator. I'm having trouble envisioning how one does that when they're already moving at 60mph. Can you enlighten me?

Don't worry. If you have a good shop doing the work it should be as good as new...

You expect a car that is built on an aluminum chassis that had it's rear suspension all but torn out to be put together as good as new? It will look great, it always did, and it will drive fine. However let me ask all those who say it will be "as good as new" would you buy a car with this report after repairs or a brand new one...and why would you make that choice?

Aluminum chassis? You must be confused as it is plain old steel. You have no idea how much damage was incurred. Might just be a snapped (aluminum) suspension arm which is what it looks like. Regardless, Modern laser alignment techniques can put a unibody chassis back on the money. Whether or not you or I would buy that car after is a whole different issue. Sounds like it's a lease so that's an issue for down the road (and another reason to not buy off-lease cars)

My bad on the aluminum comment had to recheck my facts. However that still leaves my 2nd point, the reason why you wouldn't purchase this over a new vehicle is that you 1)would not feel as comfortable with a car sustaining this amount of damage 2) new cars feel different than a car that was repaired. Thankfully for the OP its a lease but $16K in damages isn't what I would call minor.
