Are you sure the clicking you are hearing isn't the pinion gear extending and the battery simply doesn't have the cranking amps to turn the motor over?

Same thing I'm thinking... have you tried jumping the car or replacing the battery (in the event jumping doesn't work)? Both my Z and my Honda Odyssey batteries gave up the ghost without any prior signs. The Z would start with a jump then die but the Odyssey wouldn't start even with a jump; the starter clicked on both, both times.

Cars with ECU's need between 10 to 10.5 volts to operate. Anything less, they won't operate to save themselves. And they don't like voltage spikes either.
A battery can show 12 volts and still be bad. You if you can't get a car to start by jumping. Remove one cable from the battery and jump the car with the battery out of the circuit.
