Day Five: 7:01 wheel-hours; 321 miles. Truncated day; drove to the most northwestern (Go 'Cats!) point in the lower 48. Had to get out and hike to the actual point because there's no road access (which is some serious b.s. if you ask me.) Then some jackass crashed his car at the top of a hill. Spent 33 minutes in the resulting traffic jam stopping and going, up a hill. Said f it after that and got on a ferry to Everett. Tomorrow will be longer, faster, and harder.

I just reattached one of the whatever the things are right in front of the front tires (some kind of guard?) after my wife pulled up too far in a parking spot and hit the parking curb. At least she had the sense to retrieve it. It was somehow intact (made out rubber?). Does anyone know the actual function of these things? There's two, each marked left and right respectively.

Yeah those move the air around the tires. I'm actually looking to replace mine even though they will eventually break again.
I wouldn't blame her. Them sh!ts don't last. |

This happened the other day, but I'll post it here anyway. I may have f*cked one of my calipers by going too hard on a bleeder valve. The repair kit comes today, so wish me luck.

Day Six: 10:36 wheel-hours; 612 miles. I-5, US 2, US 97, I-90, I-405, I-5, WA 20 to Colville. WA 20 through Cascades National Park was epic. Just the right mix of curves, twists, sweeps, and straightaways.
Interesting experience on US 97, which was a 2-lane through the mountains... I was passing a chitty rental camper at WOT and my V1 Valentine started screaming 8 and 9 KA-band hits from in front, sides, and back. Happened three more times over the course of 30 miles when I went WOT to pass someone. Thinking, aircraft patrol? If it was, I'm flattered. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

Day Seven: 8:51 wheel-hours, 503 miles. From Colville, WA to Missoula, MT. Highlights included this unexpected and short yet delightful stretch of ID 6 between ID 3 and 9, terrain map pictured below, and the 202 miles of US 12 between Lewiston, ID and Lolo, MT, also known as The Northwest Passage, an All-American Road.
US 12 follows the course of the Lochsa River like Spoiler on the scent of fresh bacon. The western terminus has an elevation of around 1,000 ft. The route rises gently to 4,000 ft. over 150 miles, then ascends abruptly to crest at Lolo Pass, elev. 5,235 ft. The All-American portion terminates 32 miles later at Lolo. For that reason, and because eastbound traffic is much lighter, I recommend starting at Lewiston. And you'll be grinning like an idiot for at least 99 beautiful, curvy, glorious miles. Bonus points for popping it in neutral bc you're almost out of gas after you crest the pass, and throwing the computer for a loop.
