Default What made you get a 370z

I wanna know what made people get a 370z. For most people i think it was they owned a 350z and had to get the new Z. For me it was somewhat like that but not really.

I always wanted a 350z but couldnt afford it...i was working in the army reserves and didnt make alot of money. However I was able to put about $6000 into my Cobalt SS Supercharged over 2 years. I even swapped to a bigger supercharger. The day i made my mind up, i got off work and went to the dyno shop to dyno my cobalt after just tuning the new supercharger. Was looking for 300whp or more. I hit 280whp, i was rather pissed off that i put that much money into the car and hit 20whp short of my goal. Went straight him really pissed off, parked the car, grabbed my motorbike gear and jumped on my ZX6R. After flying down the road doing 150kmh i decided to pull into the Nissan dealership. There was a sales guy already outside and he walked over to me, telling me i have a nice bike. I asked if i could take a 370z for a test drive. I was expecting him to say no (im only 23 and usally they dont let young adults my age take a car like that for a test drive) So he came with me and damn...loved it the second i got in it.

We got back to the dealership, i signed the papers and he said they will find out if i was approved...next day i got a call and approved. They also said they would give me $15,000 for my cobalt that i was trading. So that was a bonus. They gave me 3 days to get the cobalt as close to stock as possible, that including switching superchargers, header, downpipe, exhaust, transmission mounts, headlights, engine mount, CAI, cosmetic stuff, meth injection, heat exchanger, gauges and a few other things...alot of work to be done in 3 days but i did it. Gave them the cobalt and I left with my brand new Z.

That was a few months ago...yesterday me and my friend were driving around and i seen a blue cobalt in the show room of a dealership, went in and sure enough it was my old car. I have to say, i do miss that cobalt...i miss the high pitched whine the supercharger made.

So lets hear everyones tales.

Cobalt SS's are solid platforms, but I wouldnt think of owning one unless it was an SS/TC. The SC ones were kinda weak.

Always liked the original 240Z lines and when I saw the 370Z and was in a position to afford it, it was an easy decision.

style...must oblige my 40ish desire for sex appeal...it looks sort of Porsche 911 but better

performance....I am a speed junky

luxury....a very nice interior compared to my old car

price....a Corvette would hurt my pocket much more

In 1970 the 240Z was selling locally for $3,695 which was MSRP. I couldn't get myself to pay MSRP so it didn't happen.
Now 40 model years later I'm getting a 2010 at invoice. One test drive was all it took to convince me to buy a 370Z.

The wife made me do it. We were looking at the GS37. Told her to stop by the Carmax near us they sell new Nissans. Just to see what they have, she saw the Z called me and told me we're getting the Z not the G. Thank you Thank you. Luv that woman.

Its funny no one mentioned the community. Some of the other car communities out there, I feel, don't seem as tight knit.

The wife wanted the Genesis coupe. However, the dealer couldn't get a 3.8GT. Went and saw the Z. We didn't need a test drive. Dealer delivered us a MB Canadian touring two weeks later. Whenever she sees a Genny coupe now she says, "What was I thinking?"

no offense to anyone personally, but i test drove one when i test drove the new camaro and i must say, the cobalt tc is one of the worst feeling/driving cars ive ever driven, even worse the broken cars i fix at work everyday.

but about the Z, i agree it was the body lines that first engaged my eye, plus the exhaust note is superb!
