Default Recent Freeway / Highway Runs

Over the past eight weeks I've had to run up to OKC from Austin four times. About 800 miles r/t. Rather than fly, I opted to take the Z (2009 Sport / Tour 6MT). I've taken the direct route up I-35, and I've taken the back route to the West up and down 281 and various other back highways and roads.

The fun factor driving this car never fails, even on long freeway stretches. It's also comfortable enough for these longer drives. Running up through the gears on/off ramps, dropping a gear or two for spirited passing, or just cruising along at 80+ (and often sometimes quite a bit faster when conditions permit).

And at 26 MPG even when running at higher speeds for long periods, that's icing on the cake.

I don't think I'll ever tire of this vehicle, and I'll see it in my garage forever.

Just thought I'd share.

I2D.

Thanks for sharing and

I drive all over Texas in the Z for my work. She's seen (mostly from a distance) every state/country bordering Texas at one time or another - 93K miles and counting

I particularly enjoy driving out Lime Creek from FM 620 and then taking FM 1431 towards Marble Falls as long as the traffic is minimal. If I'm heading West, I often take this route out of town being that I live up near Cedar Park/Round Rock.

*edit* Also, I highly recommend an Ecutek tune if you're so inclined. It really helps the throttle response and it can adjust the fans to come on sooner in the Texas heat. Not to mention all the RaceRom features like launch control and multiple tunes as well as gauge and traction control hijacking.

Never gotten 26, but I've gotten 24-25 many times - even since going TT. Of course that is only Highway Driving like a Good Samaritan.

Nice man! I put 22k on mine this year. I live in Cincinnati and I drive to Florida and Virginia 2 to 3 times per year. Longest stretch was 14hrs straight only stopping for food and gas. I use the Z as my daily unless it's snowing. I haven't paid attention to what type of mpg I've been getting though. I do know that it requires about 1 tank more than my 13' altima coupe 2.5s did when driving from Cincy to central Florida, but that's probably because I like to have fun along the way.

I do see 25.6 - 25.7 MPG's highway (so rounded up to 26). This is when cruising at 80-85, with frequent hard throttle runs 100+. I get 18 avg. in the city.

I've considered the tune which was suggested in the first reply -- but since I don't have any intake or exhaust mods I've thought the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze.

That Lime Creek road run to 1431 is pretty fun, but I tend to do that on my bike.

I'm about to take my Z on a short road trip this weekend. Been about 2 years since I last took her on a longer trip, I'm excited!

Just got back from ZdayZ, and the comfort never ceases to amaze me. Drove home on Sunday, 10 hours straight and when I pulled into my driveway, the MPG meter was reading 28.9. This was driving between 75 and 80 with about an hour of delays in Cincy and Columbus. The last time we went, the mileage was at exactly 30.3. If I babied my right foot, I could almost make it from Cleveland to Fontana on one tank...

I've put nearly 550 miles on the tank several times. Calculated over 29 mpg. Pretty sure Andrew (DE) has hit the 30 mark.

Of course, it's a lot more fun when you're getting closer to 10 mpg

I've done DFW to NY, FL, OK, and inside TX which is huge. I love this car. And unlike others. My car has seen it's limits and I STILL don't have any issues except I change the oil more frequently than recommended and tires go often. Other than that. It's a freakin tank. I love it.

My fun factor rating is pretty good then. I'm at 17.6 and started at 25. Reset and goes back to it. When I had my tune it started fine and now stabilized at my current MPG. It's a DD and I'm also in LA/OC traffic in the AM and PM and that't the biggest factor.

This is why I also love this car. I believe this is what the car was made for. It's agile but also a GT on American roads.
