370 debate on Camaro board
Camaro SS vs. 370Z - Camaro Forum - 2009 Camaro / 2010 Camaro / New Camaro SS Z28 Forums - Camaro5.com
Quite an argument going on the last couple pages! |
|
They are really reasonable of course they side with the Camaro but all most all of them agree it will be a close race and the ignorant arguements get corrected.

Its good to see the people have realized the old adage of I have a V8 therefore I am faster then your V6 no longer applies. This isnt the late 80's early 90's anymore.:tiphat: |

:rofl2: |
all bias aside, the z will dimolish that car around the track
|
The problem with the camaro is its a muscle car, not a sports car. Its just too heavy.
|
lol...i posted in their thread....

Are you Crown?
|
Yes, and they are killing me.

I don't think DEMOLISH is the proper word! The Z will definetly show that it's definetly bang for the buck. That's for sure. ya heardddddddddddd?! |
I am on both of the boards and that discussion is making me laugh my *** off. There's one guy claiming the Camaro SS will out-handle both the 370Z and the Vette. Now that's being optimistic.

So basically, that member is saying the Camaro can hang with a Porsche Cayman S then... because the 370Z certainly does... |

AND I HIGHLY DOUBT... GM would create such a beautiful beast... I only trust the early american cars. Gonna have to wait a little then I'll trust! I want to see the camaro do some corners. I'm very interested... |
Yea one guy said the early production was .93G's on the Skidpad for the Camaro I doubt that it will get better then that. Also stated that if it is .93G's that the .06G diff is negligible lol.

Nah, just let them buy the Camaro.
It'll help our economy at least! |
People still care about stop light racing? I thought that fad ended when you graduate high school.
Who cares who wins in a straight line. Real cars go around turns, long straights are for planes to take off. |

I love the Camaro; it looks great, has a ton of power, and the interior's not bad. However, it weighs too much, the tires are too skinny, the body rolls a lot, and it won't be nearly as fun as the Z will be. While I cannot make any statements of fact, I would imagine 99% of the Camaro board has never been on a road course. Once you've tracked a proper sports car, there's no going back to straightline BSing. I never got the thrill of stumping on the gas for a few seconds and calling it quits (perhaps I just don't properly understand it). There is just so much more to driving. Mark PS: I have only been considering two cars for my upcoming purchase SS or Z: just conversing on that board has made my mind up for me (forgetting I'm more of a two seat sports car person anyway); its Z all the way. |
I'm posting under Rekt in that forum.
|
I don't mind a little bias for "your" brand, but to ignore math and logic just kind of annoys me.
Where the numbers work for them, they are great numbers. Where the numbers work the Z, those numbers suck, and don't mean anything, and arent valid and so forth. That being said, some of those guys seem to have their head on straight. |

Can you convert that to ET and 1/4 mile language plzzz?" That's pretty funny man. |

They are all having internal discussion on whether thats possible or not, no trolls allowed. lol.
By the way, it was announced the camaro is delayed another month. Production will now start 3/16/09. Can they ever get this effen car going? |
What I think is really hilarious is the fact that you don't see the mustang guys really arguing this point very much, and don't get me wrong I really like the retro styled stang but in motor trend the 370z ran to 60 in 4.7 seconds , the 1/4 mile in 13.3 @ 105.7mph. The mustang 2009 version ran to 60 in 5.2 and 1/4 mile at 13.7 @ 100 +or - don't have it in fornt of me. Sorry but ss camaro's didn't run 13.3's when motor trend tested them they were running 13.7's @ 102 or so. Motor trend in my opinion really doesn't drive the cars as hard as they could to get better times, so this really shows that nissan has done an exemplary job creating this monster in disguise.

I'm glad you all are getting a kick out of my posts hahaha
I'm just waiting for them to come over here trying to bash our Z. I'll apologize ahead of time admins... |
Well you have a way of speaking what is true which is evading their simple American made biased minds. I was raised on muscle cars but the second I saw what the imports were capable of I quickly became an import minded enthusiast. They will realize what the z is capable of when they come across one on the road and get their asses handed to them in a very fashionable embarrasing way. I myself can't wait to accomplish this embarrasment.

2010 Chevy Camaro SS: 0-60 in 4.6 Seconds
Seems to me edmunds already got some SS numbers no?? The link i provided show some numbers 0-60 in 4.9, 60-0 in 117ft, .90g skid, 1/4 mile 13.4 Hmm looks like the Z has it beat in certain areas...... braking, 0-60, skid, and 1/4 mile but then again ...this is probably a pre production test car so i dont know?:icon14: |
That slow? Wasnt expecting that out of a 422hp car. But like you said, maybe that was a prepro. For their sake, I hope so.
|
yeah... thats what i was thinking for 422 hp lol...
Another car :owned: by its own weight =(, oh wells i still think that car is beautiful |

Really suprised me that one or two mentioned that skidpad results should not even be included in the discussion...Surely Car and Driver, MotorTrend, Edmunds, etc. etc. etc. have some sort of knowledge/credability somewhere along the lines of how to test and record these cars performance numbers. I would think they include skidpad for a reason, but what do I know, I'm only a Software Geek...
The only reason I'm shootin for something along the lines of the 370 and not the camaro because of basically what I see on a daily basis (driving around 40 miles to work and back): - Maybe 1 or 2 extremely nice last bodystyle SS Camaros with older dudes drivin em...they sound very nice btw... - Around 50, give or take 5, base Camaros (some with rust spots, some black cars with one tiel door, most with flowmasters ofcourse) with young kids and chicks drivin em. Again, it may be different in different areas of the US, but here that's all I've ever seen. As far as the 350z and 370z, I don't see a lot at all around here, and when I do it's usually an old dude. Nonetheless, both the camaro and 370z are great cars in each of their own categories and if one wants 4 seats and a bigger trunk, camaro is your baby, but if you want a 2 seater sports car get a Z. :tiphat: |

I see the car is delayed, they are saying a one month delay, but I suspect it will be longer in reality. They also said that the SS (V8) model will take a lot longer to get to dealers due to the demand. Some people may not get the cars they ordered until next year. Glad I got my Z!
