Not to mention that Corvettes use Torque Tubes so that the tranny is mounted in the back like a transaxle. The Camaro wheels are heavier and taller (reducing tq to the ground) also.

There will be significant differences between wheel tq between the Vettes and the Camaros. Trust me.
True, but still won't make it more than 3% more inefficient in my opinion. I still would place my bets on the Camaro being faster down the stretch, and that's ok because the Z has a better interior, handling, mpg, braking, balance and is lighter.

^^^ We'll have to see...

But I do have to say this about the Camaro, I don't think the Z will beat the MPG on the Camaro. GM always under-rates the MPG on their V8s. But in my personal experience, and the experience of all my friends with GM LSx Motors, we've all gotten GREAT economy on the freeway due to GM's tall trans gears. 2002 Corvette with a 6-speed gets 36MPG on the freeway. My Trans Am got about 23MPG even with my upgraded diff gears. My friends 2002 Camaro got around 26MPG average. LOL It's hard to beat that.

much better, and I don't drive like a granny either. If I had been keeping my rpms low and speed down, I'm sure I could have squeezed a couple more mpg.

Yeah... Like I said before, the Solstice said 23/36 and I get 25/42+. I didn't trust the MPG gauge on the Sol, so I ran the numbers myself. The gauge IS wrong, but it's only off by about 1 mpg. I was really shocked how well it does. GM under-rates it's MPG on it's cars and OVER rates them for their trucks. I used to drive a 2001 Silverado for a delivery job I had, and I had a 2004 Silverado. Both trucks got crappy MPG and it was worse than the sticker said.

I don't believe that in the slightest. I'd want to A) see the time slip, B) know which track and where, and C) See the car has no mods at all myself.

my350z has a chart of the best times for the Z's with na mods/fi/stock.....I saw a Z hit 13.1 BONE STOCK. You have to show your time slip in order to get your time listed.

Interesting... Maybe a freak? Any proof it wasn't tuned? And what elevation was it?

I mean, it's possible, I know, but the conditions really have to be perfect.

If you click on the link it shows the time slip. I just got it off from another forum and he stated he knew the guy personally. I guess he could be full of crap for all I know.

Honestly, it's not worth the investigation. I've seen cars never meant to be in the 13s get there bone stock. My Trans Am was a freak also. It does happen.
