2016 backup camera needs adjustment (not lines)

I have a 2016 NISMO with OEM NAV and backup camera. Just yesterday I put it into reverse and the viewing angle has changed. I now see the license plate and bumper in the view, which also reduces my distance view. The camera is secure in its bracket and hasn't physically moved. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? I've heard other Nissan models have done this and the dealership says it is a normal view...it is not.

Camera or lens has moved inside the housing?

david81968 04-02-2017 11:32 AM

I don't see how, but something in or with the camera has changed.

I can't envision an electrical problem causing your symptoms. All I can see is physical movement. But I'm no expert on video.

Agree. But the mounting is solid.

I'd disassemble and look for loose parts. YMMV

Anyone hit your bumper?

david81968 04-02-2017 12:01 PM

If they did, there is no sign of it.

May be someone tried to pull of the camera and damaged a component inside the mounting. Or possibly something failed on the unit itself. I say take it back to the dealer and have them asses it and then look at a new vehicle with he backup cam and what its stock rearview is. Then see what the service consultant/manager has to say.

I've already got an appointment. I'll update afterwards. I think there is a failure somewhere inside the camera. You can't adjust the camera or bracket.

I thought it was just me... I have a 2016 Sport and one day I noticed the same thing, I could see my plate all of a sudden. Backing up hasn't really been adjusted, no damage and no one had hit it or tampered with it ( checked cameras).

No idea.

Just got back from Nissan. They didn't tell me much or how it may have happened, but they are ordering a new camera (under warranty).

I believe my backup camera is having a similar issue. Seems like it's not getting a full view when in reverse, bottom corners almost appear to be blocked out. I don't recall it being like this before. What was the issue and how did the camera perform after the replacement?
