Anyway - what do children know? ...apart from those ones who constantly tell me how nice the car is...

Well I am 64 also and modifying my 2012 Z, shocks / harness bar / FI exhaust / headers / bigger brakes / larger sway bar / header / etc

its how you feel, not some damn number

plus my children are already fighting over the car.....

Hey guys,

Been awhile since I have posted, or even been on the site period. I thought I should swing in and see how things are. Looks like there is still a good amount of activity on here, which I am happy to see! It really is difficult to find a car forum that is a good (interesting/helpful) as this one.

I got rid of my '09 Touring Sport 6MT back in 2015. A member on here actually ended up purchasing it from the Infiniti dealer I bought my new car from. I'm now on new Infiniti #2: Q50S with all of the goodies. I do love the car..pretty luxurious and the thing is a rocket (sounds almost identical to my old Z ;) ). I REALLY considered the option of getting back into a new Z, while shopping for the Q50 at the time. The AWD and ~slightly~ higher ground clearance is basically what it came down to. I had moved into another house during my Z ownership and it was impossible to get the car into the driveway. That and we have snow here about 10 months out of the year LOL.

Anyway, I am starting to get the new car itch again and the Z continues to be on my list of interest. I am definitely tempted now that they have brought my Chicane Yellow back onto the market. Also love Pearl White (previous 350z HR).

Substitute the Infiniti for a Mercedes GLA 250, delete the snow concerns, and you have my story. My townhouse driveway, and Houston streets were what moved me to sell my '11 Touring Sport with Nismo front bumper conversion and Tanabe springs. Car was just too low to be practical, even as a garage queen.

That, and I had done so many mods, I felt I had compromised the car to some extent. Almost everything I did cost almost 50% more to fix an unintended circumstance.

The last factor was the auto trans. In the summer of 2011, post-tsunami, the selection of cars was very limited. Also at the time, it was my daily driver, and I justified the auto trans for commuting purposes. It was my first and last sports car with an auto.

I'm waiting to see what the Z35 concept looks like in October - if it indeed will be debuted - to decide to wait for it, or just jump on a 2017/2018 Nismo.

Since selling the Z, I've stalked the Porsche and Corvette forums, and just can't catch the vibe of those owner groups. I made some of my best friends through ownership of my Z and miss the camaraderie.

I look forward to getting back into the Family. :happydance:

I traded a G37S for my Z. You nailed the ownership experience.

I had a 25 year old tell me that a 50 year old would look silly driving a Z.
He also told me a Callenger would be more my style .
I like the GM and silver the best.

I am currently driving a 2017 ford fusion hybrid while my Z is in the body shop.
Nice car,but boy do I feel old in it! Im 54 and still love sports cars just as much as I did at 18.
Everyone has opinions ,but I really dont care :)
I still like to play video games and fly my toy drone around!

lol, those people who said it was a kids car now are envious of me driving it every day to work, funny thing is my son who is 37 just bought a 2017 Dodge Challenger AWD and he was also told by "haters'' that with a little guy and 3 dogs it was a bad decision. Like me he told them to go fry ice..lol:driving:

Lot of common themes here.

When I had my 280z when I was 16 my friends mom didn't believe us that it was a Datsun and not a Ferrari lol.

I looked at G37S before the Z too
Also test drive GLA45 AMG
Among others

There's no bang for your buck like a new Z right now. Even though some consider long in the tooth - which I only agree with in terms of power. There should hve been periodic increases over the last 9 years. Especially the last 3-4.

When I night mine last year my 65 year old life long corvette guy nearly bought one too after driving mine. In the end he got Boxster but only because he got a screaming deal on it.

For me the car is a keeper. I'll add a second car to the stable before too long. Forced induction and AWD. But the Z will always have a place in my garage. Unless the Z35 is just screaming at me that I lust it unbearably I can't see any reason for the 370 to vacate its spot. And the Z35 would even then still have to be the incredible bang for the buck the current one. Very few people actually believe I only paid 30k brand new for this car. And I can't see whatever they come out with as a new model being anywhere near that - though I'll gladly eat those words if it comes to it.

I can sure catch the vibe of a Z06 or '17 Cayman regardless of what the community is like. Especially the Cayman. Holy crap, 0-60 in 3.9/4.3 depending on what transmission you opt for. Plus just LOOK at it. I love the Z and all, but that's on another level.:driving:

I used to own a 2006 GTO ...black LS2 engine 400 Hp....loved that car.

By the way never listen to a 25 year old, they think they got it all figured out. At 50 however, we have been around long enough to know we have nothing figured out....go buy the Z. Only humans can create a delusional identity around a material object. Its a car and no car is off limits as long as you can drive it and have fun doing it!

I'm 66 and drive a Z! Of course it's my fun car, not my primary driver. I've been driving sports cars since the '60s. I didn't like muscle cars back then in their heyday and I certainly don't like them now. Who cares how fast a car is in a straight line? That's why drag racing will never be as popular as Formula 1. A Challenger? A Chrysler product? You have to be kidding me.

The Love of Z's Never Dies

I'm 50 and drive a '16 Nismo. It's amazing how much more respect this car gets compared to my previous Vette. The Vette definitely made me feel older than I was.

This car is the opposite. I've always loved the Z from the very beginning. The cool factor with the Z is immense, in my neck of the woods anyway. Both my nephews now think their uncle drives a cool car.
