I think I hear a whambulance en route. Echoing the statements of others, I have more fun with the Z accelerating from a low speed to the speed limit quickly, then letting off the throttle. My bimmer lived above 120, but the gas mileage at that speed was disgusting. I even got my winter beater up to 115 once, the 110hp 4 banger sounded like it was going to explode. All of this happened on closed courses in Nigeria; no laws were broken.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I've exceeded the posted 75mph on the highways here in Colorado.
Well, that's not entirely true; I did get pulled over in the mid-90's in my TT 300zx for, and I quote; "I don't know how fast you were going, but I know it was too damn fast" - it took the trooper about 2 miles to catch up from the point I noticed the red and blues waaaaaay back there; but because I pulled over and waited for him, and the Porsche kept going, I was let off with a warning. Now I'm older, wiser, and have the money to go to the track to be stupid. ![]() |

Exactly why this thread is stupid, who cares how fast you can go on a smooth open highway, a minivan can do 110+. How fast can you do a lap on some track that's something.

I wonder how much fuel that took... I remember an episode of Top Gear where they put the STIG in a Prius to go as fast as possible around the test track... Then Jeremy got into a V8 M3 and his only task was to keep up with the Prius. At the end, the M3 used less fuel.
