It's absolutely both. Snow tires on a Z only make it possible to drive it in snow, and perhaps slightly less dangerous. It certainly doesn't make it fun, and it certainly doesn't make it safe.
This is Minnesota. We don't screw around with our winter vehicles. First flake of snow and the Z goes in the garage for its long winter nap. Having said that, we've had several days in the 40's - 50's and the snow/ice has melted off the roads. I uncovered the Z, took it off the battery tender and drove it all day on errands today. Pushing the season for sure...normally it's rare that I can even drive the thing in March. I have no illusions though. History suggests that some of our biggest snowstorms happen in March.
