Great Idea I cam up with

Nissan screwed up on this. I understand cost savings and complexity of machines and fabrication, but really?
$50K car shouldn't be spared fine details specially if it has NISMO attached to it. I'm refereeing to the switch blanks that come with the NISMO because we don't have heated seats or convertible. So, a light bulb came into my head and I designed something for the 3D printing guys to come up with. The Cup holder and blank assembly pop off as an assembly. NO TOOLS required. The Switch blank is attached by 4 screws. Off it comes and now you have a square hole. Problem is, it's not deep enough but it will hold an Iphone5, IPOD or whatever you want immediate access to. I like the idea, I may try to model something up and 3D print something to fit in there. I'm not the best designer, but I can probably get something to fit
|
Looks like a good seat for my badtz maru plush.
Right now he looks like he's dipping in a hot springs in da cup holder.. |
I wouldn't mind that. Currently my phone stays on my lap.

I think its a perfect spot for coins. All my coins are in the cup holder.

Great idea! Always looking for more storage space.

Zooms, what did you use to fill the hole? This is a great idea I've been wanting to do something like this for sometime.

I made a quick and dirty design that will fit in that spot, please don't judge.
It does require a little bit of fitting to be able to get the cup holder all the way down, but if you do it correctly it requires no glue Whenever my wife gets home I'll get her to snap a picture of my iphone 6s w/ a case sitting in the cubby. |
Nice! I really need to get me one of these 3D printers to play with

Here are a couple of pics with the phone sitting in it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...155c5152f5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2538ee3381.jpg

Great idea and execution, and it really should've come like this for non-touring models. |

Nice idea. I mount my phone up on the vent by the headunit but a little storage space there could be useful for sure.
|
That looks great! May I add to it? Can one of you add 3 USB ports? We can attached USB hub inside and use it to charge the phone and connect it to a head unit if you have one that supports it.

The hole stays open, like pictures show. It's a custom made slot/cup from plastic, using 3D printer. Hope that helps? k |

This would be awesome... I wonder if my iPhone 7 plus would fit... It seems that the regular iPhone is tight the way it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Great Idea I cam up with
The opening is 74mm if I remember correctly, and the 7 plus is 77mm wide

Dang... I just looked it up, 77.9 to be exact. 4mm is a lot.... maybe it wouldn't look too bad diagonally in the opening???

I'll double check the dimensions when I get home

The width is 77.2 mm barely too small. You could probably put it in at an angle

It would probably face you (driver) better at an angle. |
Personally, I keep my phone in my pocket while I'm driving.
But I like the creativity, OP  |

I will forsure take one of these!!!
Do you know if it can hold a Galaxy S6 with a thin case? |
Actually I don't even care if it can hold a phone. It's still ten times more functional than the ugly block out plate. If anyone is selling these, PLEASE PM me!

So a lot of people want these on the facebook groups and as much as I'd love to be able to make and sell these I don't have the time, capability, nor the desire to do this. However I am giving away the files for free, so if you have a 3d printer or have access to one you can make one for yourself. If you don't I attached a link to a website that you can use to have it printed.
I'll put the link to the files, and to a place where you can have it printed. I did a quick look and you should be able to get it printed in ABS for about $50. Here is the file 370z Blank Button delete by JTM88 - Thingiverse Here is the site where you can order prints https://www.3dhubs.com/ |
