Nissan screwed up on this. I understand cost savings and complexity of machines and fabrication, but really? $50K car shouldn't be spared fine details specially if it has NISMO attached

Great Idea I cam up with
Nissan screwed up on this. I understand cost savings and complexity of machines and fabrication, but really?
$50K car shouldn't be spared fine details specially if it has NISMO attached to it. I'm refereeing to the switch blanks that come with the NISMO because we don't have heated seats or convertible. So, a light bulb came into my head and I designed something for the 3D printing guys to come up with. The Cup holder and blank assembly pop off as an assembly. NO TOOLS required. The Switch blank is attached by 4 screws. Off it comes and now you have a square hole. Problem is, it's not deep enough but it will hold an Iphone5, IPOD or whatever you want immediate access to. I like the idea, I may try to model something up and 3D print something to fit in there. I'm not the best designer, but I can probably get something to fit

I made a quick and dirty design that will fit in that spot, please don't judge.
It does require a little bit of fitting to be able to get the cup holder all the way down, but if you do it correctly it requires no glue Whenever my wife gets home I'll get her to snap a picture of my iphone 6s w/ a case sitting in the cubby. |

The picture makes the scratch look way worse than it is. i'll probably take it off again to tweak the design, right now the cupholder piece is just shy of sitting flush, and when I do that I'll fix it.

Great idea and execution, and it really should've come like this for non-touring models. |
