Is fuel starvation issue serious on street driving ?
* photo erased - sorry for the oversized
I've read many articles about 370Z's fuel starvation issue. Personally I've never been to a track and I usually drive my car pretty smoothly on public road. I'm just curious whether the fuel starvation can also happen on tough curve in street driving condition, too. Or it never happens on street driving even if I keep making a sudden fast curve for some seconds ?? My Z is a 2010 Sport OEM + stock tires. Last edited by felix0121; 01-08-2017 at 12:24 AM. |

Most reports I've seen involved low fuel level (less than approx 1/4 tank but can happen with more) and a long, hard turn (to the right, IIRC). Several people have discovered the problem on cloverleafs. A "sudden" fast turn (eg, 90 degree) doesn't seem to be a problem.
If you've been driving the car since 2012 (your join date here) and haven't had a problem with fuel starve, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm the Charles Manson of driving crazy.... it's NEVER Happened to me. But I fill up at 1/3 tank.

I run mine down to <1 gal routinely. Never had an issue on public roads even with spirited driving.
As already mentioned, longer right hand turns/curves (like cloverleafs) are more susceptible than shorter, quick turns. Less fuel in the tank, more throttle, and higher G forces are all factors that increase the likelihood of fuel starvation. Also, what's the purpose of the oversized pic?

I've ran mine pretty low in the past & also know that there is more fuel above the 1/2 tank mark, than below it...with 16dots on the gauge & 19gal capacity; I've always figured a gallon for each dot w/2 gallons above the full & 1gallon left when the last one goes out....this has held pretty true/consistent on mine.
Never a glitch or sign of starving & yes: I've put 18+ gallons in tank on a refill before.better be in route to a gas station.and when you see this, better be dang near close to one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
