No news for next Z yet .. ??
Weeks ago I had been to a dealership for maintenance, and my service advisor told me that there is no specific news or information for next Z coming.
Actually I liked the news because I want my 370Z would remain as the newest among Z series as long as possible. :D Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk |
I don't get it? How can you have the newest Z anything on a 8 and a half year old design with a severely outdated engine, under performing transmissions by today's standards and the oldest looking interior on the market. Our v6 used to be the fastest NA v6 until the camaro matched us. The only bragging rights we have is we're faster than a Toyota 86.
Our cars do feel special with amazing handling and generally don't look too outdated in the Nismo version considering the age but... Nissan needs to STEP UP my man. |
The Z is a relatively low volume car...and only eclipsed by the GT-R - which is the REAL Nissan halo car. With that being said...it has always suffered long redesign times, and even a VERY long break. It is not a perfect car...but none are. For what it is, for the price, for the quality - it is still an amazing car. Long in the tooth - sure. But that does not diminish what it is.
The next version is taking a long time due to Nissan trying to figure out what to do with it, EG the GT-R mentioned above. They need to get it right, and also push the production numbers up. And just now Infiniti is pushing out all the various engine models not available previously. The design and platform will depend on those choices as well. I am about to buy my 2nd ZR after a 2 year break - and will drive it knowing it is a fantastic car for what it is. I have an daily driver '16 S6 - which is also "long in the tooth", and only 450hp (540HP with the tune on)...at the low end of the that segment of "almost supercars". But it is still an amazing vehicle and one of the best cars I have had. It was #55 in a long line. Lets enjoy what we have...and wait with anticipation what will come next. I have seen a few renderings...and those are a direction I would have no part in. I hope they get the next one right...and build on the good, refine the problem areas, and do away with the horrible. |
There is a 194 page thread on this exact topic.

I hadn't been on here in a while and tried to go thru it...painful. Hence just enjoy what we have and wait. lol

Nissan's infotainment, or lack thereof, is what kills me. The technology they're using is about 20 years old. Get with the program Nissan. My 2009 Scion xB had a MUCH better system than the garbage that comes in our cars.

If I'm buying a car that was at one point $35k+ and a 2013 model year, I want it to come with a radio that is better than what came in a 1998 BMW 330i. That's not too much to ask. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O8B7CFS...4CMJYJ5D&psc=1 |

I'm much more concerned about there not being any meaningful performance upgrades over 9 model years dating back to 2009. |

The performance aspect will likely be addressed on when they change bodystyles. The Q60 uses the VR30DDTT, I'd imagine it's going to be the new 6 cyl option for the Z along with whatever 4cyl they decide to give it. Personally, I wouldn't mind that new light weight Nismo motor they developed in my current chassis. Would make one hell of a road race car. |
