Insurance Screwed Me
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
So I haven't posted here in a long while, but my Z is no more. A car tapped my rear bumper while going around a corner in the rain. My car spun out and smacked into the railing. The car that hit me sped off and I had no rear dash cam to get them. Insurance said there was no proof I had been hit and that I just spun out of control so now I have an at-fault accident on my record. When the car went in for repairs, there was luckily no frame damage, and no suspension damage. Body work for the car came to almost 55% of the cars value, which was still well below what they would have needed to total the car at 75%. My insurance decided to total the car anyway. I had no way to pay for the repairs myself so I had to let them total it. They then proceeded to offer me 4k under the KBB value as the cash value of the car and would not budge on that number, even after I showed them there was no way you could actually purchase a similar spec and mileage Z for that amount. I'll hopefully get another Z sometime soon but will probably wait until spring of the new year. My insurance also decided to raise my premiums by about 50% so I don't even know if I will be able to afford insuring another one once I get it. TLDR: **** liberty mutual, thanks for listening to my rant. |
Yeah. "My lawyer will be in touch."

I wish I could, but I bought the car for 19k, and I don't really have the money for a good lawyer so it would not really be worth it.

I would fight it!

At this point, litigation is your only option to get what's owed you.

Which insurance company do you have?

Did they give you the option to buy/back for salvage?

I can see why, that rear quarter is done and it is expensive to replace. I know the feeling of taking it up the butt by 2 insurance companies at once. My car totaling was painful. I had GAP insurance and it saved my butt. GAP covered all of the stuff my insurance didn't want to cover plus the difference in the payoff. Insurance company = Legalized thief.

That completely sucks...so sorry!

Glad your still here with us..

Once I had to contact the office of the Insurance Commissioner for the State that I lived in (Michigan at the time). I filed a complaint through them and they leaned on the insurance company that I was having diificulty with and it got the insurance company to step up and resovle my claim appropriately. There was no charge to me and it worked. Might want to see if that is an option in your state

Programmer, take a closer look at where the other car hit you, more than likely their will be some paint transfer from the other car on your car. If their is take pictures and forward that to your insurance co. and keep the pictures if you get an attorney. Hope things work out for ya.

I probably should have posted this thread a while ago, I have not had access to the car since mid-november when the car was totaled, so I cant look for the paint transfer or really do much as I was more just ranting over this **** after the fact and after receiving the payment for the cash value of the car. |
