GT Spec Purchases?

Guy,
I had an unusual experience with GT Spec:
I ordered one of the 6 point rear shock tower brace kits for $499.00. The order came to $527.00 with shipping. They sent me an email saying that I had ordered the kit, and that I had an email account with them. They charged my Visa card for the amount. Two days later I got an email saying the order had been canceled. No reason given, just canceled. I called Visa and checked, they did charge my account. I asked Visa to cancel the charge, the gal asked me to hold on a minute, she came back & said that GT Spec had issued a credit about one hour previous. So they had my money for a few days. I found a 6 point brace on EBay, so I have the parts coming. I tried to call GT Spec four times, when they did answer, no one came to the phone, always to leave a message. But, I have to tell you, I would be very hesitant to order anything else. If the email had said anything, back-ordered, no longer stocked, whatever, I would be OK, but it didn't.
Word to the wise.
Brian
Hopefully they will come on the forum and let me know what happened.

Please excuse my ignorance but GT Spec is NOT a vendor here so how is it possible for them to respond?

If this was for a mere buyers beware? Gotcha!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience :ugh2:

If they sell 370Z parts, is it not reasonable to think that they would possibly keep an eye on the 370Z forum? Actually, I do not expect them to respond. I work in engineering for a very large engine company, we take a lot of pride in our customer service. I'm not sure these guys know what the words mean.

at least they issued you a credit and not take your money and run, so that's a good thing.

Parts Arrived

Guys,
The GT Spec 6 point 370Z rear shock brace arrived today. The minute I saw the box, it answered a few questions. Like I stated above, I work for a major small engine manufacturer, and we have a large plant in China. Chinese shipping box's do not look like American shipping box's. The cardboard is different, much lighter in color. The GT Spec box was Asian. I opened the box, and the overly simple instruction sheet was 1/2 English, & 1/2 Chinese. I have nothing against off shore manufacturing, obviously, I would prefer the parts to be made in the USA or Japan, but whatever. But it may answer the questions that have been on this forum, and my experience. Using off shore manufacturing, & water shipping can be a real challenge. China is cheap, but they like to make stuff in big quantities, and water shipping can take 3 months. That makes it hard to plan, & stock parts for immediate online shipping, unless you are willing to invest in large inventories, which most small business are not willing to do. All this does not excuse their questionable customer service, or lack of reasonable communication.
I guess, all this ends up meaning, call first, and check that they really have the parts in stock in their NY warehouse, before you order.

I think i remember reading somewhere that they no longer make these braces so maybe that was the issue and u just got lucky on ebay with someone who still had one for sale...

I'd have the agree. The order was probably automatically processed online, once received they realized the product was no longer available and cancelled/refunded your order. This is pretty standard practice for mail order companies, it's happened to me several times. The "bad" companies are the ones who keep your money and never ship your order.

I also agree,
But the people that I spend serious money with, I always have a personal relationship with. It is so easy to email or phone back and say, "Sorry for the confusion, but by the way, in the future, we do have other 370Z parts you may like to use. If so, please consider us in the future". Then I would come back later, and give them a second try.
Pretty Simple

some of these 'parts' companies have a completely different definition of customer service. some even stole money and disappeared.
