what should I demand?
Hello guys..
So.. I bought my 2017 370z (Brand new) about 2 months ago in October, and the part of the deal included Nissan OEM Rear view mirror /w homelink and back up camera. One day later I pick up the car, I find out that the mirror installed doesn't have any visible homelink buttons. So I email my sales guy and asks how I can program this mirror for homelink. Two days later.. the sales guy replies and tells me that he installed the aftermarket one on my car and that the mirror does not have any homelink capability. ( This was done without my consent ) So I ask him to get me the OEM one and make this deal right, and he says i will have to wait 1 month for the part to arrive. Fast forwarding 1 month and 2 weeks, i go to the dealership to replace it with the OEM one. The tech who actually worked on my car did a great job and installed the new one. Now, the problem is the OEM camera has been installed in different location from the aftermarket one and my bumber has a huge hole now... Of course I had no idea this would happen. So i tell my sales guy to come out and take a look at the hole, then he says how the bumper is plastic and will not rust over time. Of course i do not want this hole on a 2 month old car, and asks him to give me a new bumper. He says he's lost so much money on this deal ( sure but it wasn't my fault to begin with? ), and not willing to do so, and see what he can do on monday as it was already late on Saturday afternoon. What would you guys demand from this sales guy? Is a brand new bumper reasonable request from me or should I let him fix this hole? Will the paint crack or get easily damaged after the repair? I did some readings on fixing the bumper holes (mostly due to getting rid of license plate) and i noticed that the putty used to fill a hole pop out over time sometimes. What should I do? |

First off you are dealing with the salesman not his boss. Get the name of the GM and go from there. When you talk to him tell him the story and be polite and professional. The odds are from what you are saying, he knows nothing of this and if he or she is a good GM he will make it right. The last thing a GM wants to hear from is an unhappy customer that just bought a new car. Don't believe the salesman whey they say they lost or made no money on the deal. They have hold backs, rebates and dealerships will also have spiffs on cars. Hope this will help and good luck.

Do not settle for anything less than what you paid for. I would really want them to do better than this. The BBB I think needs to be called and this dealership should be reported. We are talking about a car that will depreciate in value as soon as it left the parking lot, you don't need an extra hole to deal with.

I'd stick to your demand for a new bumper. In the end if you don't get one then at least you know there are other options to plug it. See Kenchan's post.

It is your car so you have to decide what's best for you. My opinion is no issues with the hole. It's not visible and won't hurt anything. You could ask for 3 oil changes or a tranny/diff fluid service down the road and call it a day.

I'm in the camp to make the higher demand for a new bumper.
You made a deal, they did their Sprite Remix bull**** version of it, had you waiting another month to get it how it was supposed to be, and apparently act like it's all cool and **** to leave you with a hole in your bumper that was never supposed to be there in the first place because it wont rust? **** that. Either have them give you a new bumper, or get it plugged + some additional form of compensation. Like G-S said, connect with their manager because you're dealing with a salesman whose sole specialty is to bull**** his way through everything (no offense to the salesmen who actually have integrity). |

Plug the hole, not with putty or filler of some type but with an actual hole plug. A new bumper that will probably be painted locally might not match the existing paint perfectly and then you will really have something that will bother you to no end, not to mention the diminished value a poorly matched paint job will result in.
You can always paint the hole plug to match the the bumper so it won't be so "eye-catching". And it won't matter if the hole plug paint isn't a prefect match. |

I would personally go for the OEM replacement and if possible at all make them switch it with another Pearl White bumper from a Z they may have in stock. Factory paint is much, much harder than a re-spray. Or if they get you a new bumper and paint it, go for a clear bra like XPEL or a coating to keep the paint from chipping.
