I have used a rubber key fob cover for about a year now, and it keeps the buttons recessed in the cover so you don't bump them. Mine has never activated the buttons while in my front pocket. Heres where you can check them out....thejacketstore.com....I don't sell them or anything, they just work and are a solution to the problem.

Question

I own 2 cars that both have key fobs. (G37s & altima3.5se). In three years of using this style of key I have never accidently opened either window. You gotta press down pretty firmly and hold it for it to operate. Plus its directionally sensative. I don't understand how some of you have the issues you all come up with? Lol.

The best way to disable the feature is trade in for 2 nissan versa's. Lmao. Or don't carry the kitchen sink in your pockets.

Just wait, it will happen to you too sooner or later It only happens when I put the key in a pants pocket, and then bend over a certain way such that it gets pressed against my cell phone. In the winter I stick it in my coat pocket and it's not a problem.

I had this problem with my mazdaspeed6. Mazda shortly after released an update to the car that made it so you have to press the unlock button twice and then hold it for a couple seconds before the windows would roll down. No more accidentally rolling down the windows. I've never really played with this on the Z. Does it work by just pressing it once and holding it down?

My keys are 1st in my pocket. On tp of my keys are a beretta 3032 tomcat inox that weighs about 14oz or so. My wallet stays in the opposite pocket and I carry nothing else in my pockets. I bend, twist, turn and all that. Get a key cover dude.

You can buy a lightweight battery. Did the trick for me unintentionally. 😑

I have my key pocket aka no cell phones, other keys or items that will push it. I'm more worried of pushing the panic button for no reason.

Default open windows

I don't get why people chime in to say they don't have a problem when so many do. I for one think its an arrogant design to say the key fob for a particular car is more important than anything else. I have had as many as 3 cars , 2 trucks and a motorcycle to juggle keys for. I leave the key fobs in a drawer, but you can't start the z without it. I would put an ignition lock and keyed door locks in if I could.
O for a life simple enough to only need to carry 1 car key, 1 house key , 1 garage key and so on and so on .

Seems like the dealer could change it to: 3 Seconds, Off or 5 Seconds if I am reading this properly.

From PWC.pdf, page 11 2015 manual;

KEYLESS POWER WINDOW DOWN FUNCTION

All power windows open when the unlock button on Intelligent Key is activated and pressed and held for more than 3* seconds with the ignition switch OFF. The windows keep opening if the unlock button is continuously pressed.

The power window opening function stops when the following operations are performed.

• When the unlock button is pressed and held for more than 15 seconds.
• When the ignition switch is turned ON while the power window opening is operated.
• When the unlock button is released.

While retained power operation activates, keyless power window down function cannot be operated.

Keyless power window down operation mode can be changed by “PW DOWN SET” mode in “WORK SUPPORT”.

Refer to DLK-43, "INTELLIGENT KEY : CONSULT Function (BCM - INTELLIGENT KEY) (For Coupe)".

NOTE:
Use CONSULT to change settings.
MODE 1 (3 sec) / MODE 2 (OFF) / MODE 3 (5 sec)

From DLK.pdf, page 43 2015 manual;

PW DOWN SET
Unlock button pressing time on Intelligent Key button can be selected from the following with this mode

• MODE 1: 3 sec.
• MODE 2: Non-operation
• MODE 3: 5 sec.

If you do get the dealer to review this and make the change, please follow up. I've only had this happen in my garage when the fob was in my pocket and I was crawling around working underneath the Z.
