Question Disabling the Remote Window Lowering?

I know people in the hot parts of the country might like this feature but I hate it. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out to the garage to find my windows down, and this morning I apparently did it while the car was parked outside in the middle of a short rain storm! No damage to the car, just the cloth seats got a little wet and I was able to soak up most of it and then dry it out. Very annoying and could have been much worse if I had inadvertently done it the night before instead of this morning.

I didn't see a way in the manual to disable this feature (non-touring), so for now I'm not putting the fob in my jeans anymore.

This happened to me for the first time last week. I was in total shock. I found both my windows completely down. Luckily it was a sunny day out. As you know, last night we had horrible rain and storm. I had the keys in my pocket (by mistake, I usually keep it on my desk) most of the evening. Before going to sleep, I had to get out in storm and rain and make sure my windows didn't come down by accident. I was soaking wet . So, yes it's a cool feature but can be annoying at times. I wish there was a way to disable this feature in the winter.

LOL, it's not like I wear tight pants from the 70's. I usually put my cell phone in that pocket as well and I think they bump into each other.

I can't wear the super baggy clothing the kids wear these days, would be getting caught in everything.

Simple solution, take out the battery and use the key to unlock your door, then put the fob in the fobgina to use your car.

I don't wear loose baggy clothing nor do I wear super tight clothing. I wear what fits athletically and have had zero problems with things hitting my fob.

If you have your phone doing it, try putting your phone in your back pocket when walking around and on a table when you're sitting. I personally hate my phone in my front pocket after having it in my back pocket all the time now.

Not what I want to do, but you did give me idea. I don't use the buttons on the remote at all, I only need it for it's proximity feature so that I can press the buttons on the door handle. I can take the fob apart and disable the unlock button without too much trouble.

Maybe the dealer can turn it off using the Nissan software (Consult...something or other). Of course there would be a fee

I was at my dealer for my oil change and there was another Z owner arguing with the Service Manager about the same thing. The service manager was unable to find a way to disable it - the best he could do was disable the auto down feature when the doors open.

I disassembled the remote to take a look. They use surface mount push buttons, I should be able to carefully de-solder it.

You could always disconnect the window motors.

Seriously, almost all Nissan vehicles (at least the upscale ones) have this feature...I've had it in at least a dozen different Nissan vehicles and I've truly never put the windows down unintentionally.

Perhaps you need some sort of "case" for the fob that would absolutely keep you from engaging the button by accident???

The same thing has happened to me before. I checked on my car several times last night due to the heavy rain. I probably should remove the fob from my pocket huh? lol
