How many miles is too much for buying a new car?

Just curious, if you are buying a new Z, how many miles on it already is acceptable for you? Some won't take it if over 200, 150, 100, 50 miles. i think this is more of a personal reference, but i just like to hear it.

Down to personal preference. If the car has over 50-100 miles I think you should be able to work a little bit off the price.

StLRedrider 12-02-2009 07:28 PM

i would say over a hundred i guess, thats a couple of test drives by somebody

300 is my mark. My Z had 17.

It's how ever many you're willing to accept. ;]

But here is a thread of the miles on the cars when owners picked them up, it may help:

I wouldn't take any Z that was parked in the parking lot, I was lucky enough to find the one of my dream LOL silver, brand new off the transport into the showroom so it hasn't even witnessed the outside parking lot. I was going to have them order one for me if not for the one in the show room. Personally, you think people that go to test drive these cars are going to just baby it under 45 MPH? I believe when I test drove one the sales person next to me even said "go ahead! push this car, it's super fast you should step on it to witness it!" and of course I did bring it up to like 70-80mph in 3rd gear and also did a pull on 2nd gear. So honestly I wouldn't take any cars over 20mi on the odo meter. Unless they're gonna give you a killer discount. This is a Z guys, people don't baby it when they test drive it.

yeah, i had mine ordered in and told the salesmen to park this thing away from the customers. if i am buying new, i'm buying new

:iagree: It's all personal taste man, if 50, 100, 500 miles doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother you. My leniency toward how many miles I would allow on the car goes down as the price of the car goes up.

PapoZalsa 12-02-2009 10:08 PM

Yeah, I prefer low miles too. But for example my car is being transfer from another dealer outside the state.

zfokaiz 12-02-2009 10:13 PM

my z had 21 miles, after my test drive.

VCuomo 12-06-2009 04:03 PM

After my test drive my Z had 48 miles on it - pretty much at the limit I would accept without negotiating some sort of discount or freebie.

fncrow 12-06-2009 05:03 PM

mine had 90 miles on it

WhiskeyHotel 12-06-2009 05:11 PM

My limit is about 200-300 miles. Mine had less than one hundred on it.

rcm2525 12-06-2009 05:15 PM

I would say no more than 100 or I'd want something off on the car. Mine had 7 I was the only test driver.

NewlyIMPORTed 12-06-2009 05:26 PM

my car had 7 miles on it too and i wouldn't want more than 50 or so. suv's i could care less under 250 but faster cars are test driven too hard
